hey i'm looking into building a pneumatic gun next, i just finished my propane injected cannon and now i want to experiment with air. I have seen a few different sprinkler valves at menards and I am just wondering what makes these so bad? Also what is a piston valve? Is it something you can buy or i...

Alright,...I used burnt latke's fuel tool 1.5 to figure out my metering pipe length and diameter...My chamber is 2 ft long which is a little over 300 cu. in. It calls out for a 12-13 inch metering 1/2 pipe around 60-70psi... so i went and bought one tonight and put all the fittings together and the ...

Starman thank you very much for the pic. Tonight I spent two hours searching the plumbing isles at Farm and Fleet and Menards..., i found that 4'' male thread adapter and configured something llike you have in your pic and was about to buy it, except that i have had problems with the large threads s...

If at all possible, could you post a picture of your valve setup. Obviously you have a fitting that screws into the back like a cap would, but I have been looking at a few different hardware stores, (menards, Farm and Fleet, Ace hardware...) and i still can't find a 4'' end piece with threads that w...

That is awesome! I'm happy to hear this! If eight 9V batteries didn't smoke the motor, 2 definately won't put a scratch on it. Thank you for all of your feedback!

How do you clean your chamber if that valve is permanent? Don't you want a cap that screws off in case you need to replace your chamber fan? Also that is about the size of Chamber that I am building. Is that a 1/2 diameter metering pipe?? Please tell me I'm right??

I looked into what 60psi would do for the next size pipe which is 1/2. it calls for 10 inches. Now from all of you experienced propane injection cannon builders...is 60psi usually the pressure that you run into through out the life of the propane cylinder. I read on burnt latke that you should alway...

Exhaust Valves.

I know the conventional easy way to exhaust your chamber using a fan is just unscrewing the cap from the chamber. I know that you can mod the cap and fit it with a valve to eliminate having to always unscrew the end cap. I have seen pictures online but have no idea how you mount that valve on the ca...

Burntlatke is the site I used to determine the pipe length. For the volume of my chamber at 90psi, it determined that i will need over a 12 inch 3/8 pipe or a 6 inch 1/2 inch pipe. 12 inches seems a little long right?? I am just worried about misfires and lack of performance. I would hate to build t...

Metering Pipe Length

I just measured the volume of my combustion chamber and did the math to find the length of my metering pipe. unfortunately my chamber calls for a 12inch piece of 3/8 pipe. The problem is I already bought all 3/8 brass fittings and have lots of time and money invested and it is almost too long. I kno...

Thank you guys for your info. I agree that the combustion will damage the fan before the higher voltage will. I never thought of that. I will use two 9 volt batteries. When I am finished with this cannon i wll post pics of the cannon and its destruction.

Chamber Fan Voltage. Is 18V too much?

I have been looking at making a fan controler for my propane injected spud cannon that i'm building and I was wondering if any of you guys have ever used two 9 volt batteries in a series (18 volts) to power a 12 volt fan? Also wondering if over time will 18 volts really damage the fan that much? How...

I Planned on making a "Straight" design at first, then as i was surfing the internet, I kept seeing all of the "Over Under" designs and i really like those. What is the difference between the two??? I will probably end up making my first propane cannon a "Straight" cannon. Hopefully graduate up to m...
