Here is a before and after. I loaded the program, put in the parameters, hit calculate and got the graph. I then changed only the barrel length and hit calculate and it locked up.

The performance monitor shows HGDT, which is what is giving me the 'headache'. Sorry, my mistake. Just got back to work again after 9 months and its been a real wake up.

Any way, this is the one that's locking up. GGDT does absolutely fine.

It only happens after I hit the calculate button. I'll try a dl from your site. See what happens. EDIT: Just downloaded from D_Hall's site. Unzipped to its own directory. Made 3 calculations, changing only the barrel length, no problem. On the 4th attempt, it locked up again (Not Responding), but th...

I've CCleaned, Defragged, Swapfile Defragged, Defragged the registry, Optimized my boot sequence, and even updated my video drivers that I didn't know were in need of an update. I've rebooted and the problem remains. In my personal opinion, it's the MS routine. Immediately upon changing a parameter ...

Here's a bump... and a slightly different problem. Running HGDT on Vista for quite a while, now. After putting in different parameters to 'tweak' a design it would lock up (Not Responding). In the last few days its gotten to the point where if I change any parameter after the first calculation, it l...

Diatomaceous earth, graphite, even an oily coating will help separate your parts from your molds.

Here is my version, using the same program (my mistake, 600 psi).

Even with no hardening, the thickness of your aluminum should be plenty. Max pressure under firing conditions shouldn't exceed about 500 psi and aluminum doesn't fail like PVC.

Your pressure vessel looks to be thick enough to withstand 25x easily, if that is steel I'm looking at. Check it for cracks with a good magnifying lens.

Yes, either compatibility (XP mode) in Windows 7 or running it as administrator in either Vista or Windows 7 will allow it to run. Been there, done that, and it works.

Like Demon said, slow turning, heat and a way to deform the glass to the shape you want. If that doesn't suit you, and you want to do it by grinding, you'll need to have lots of water to keep the glass cool and grind VERY slowly. Doing work with glass will require a lot of patience as even just dril...

So, why use a paramagnetic material for the projectile and HAVE to use LIN to make it work well? Why not use a ferromagnetic or even a diamagnetic projectile?

Try making your cage out of aluminum and ground it well. Aluminum has the tendency to repel magnetic forces whereas iron and steel accommodate it. Bismuth will repel very well, also. It is why an aluminum ring works so well being propelled by a magnetic force.

You're making colloidal salts from the stainless steel. Your electrodes are being sacrificed to produce the electrolysis. If you were to use silver electrodes, you would get a solution of colloidal silver, which is a great anti-bacterial agent. Using stainless won't guarantee a longer lasting electr...
