Yes, I could do that Jimmy. I'm not the go-to guy when it comes to boards, but I can tell when something is fried at least. I'll cut it apart in the later hours of today and if a problem can be easily seen I will post and take pictures.

Cheers!

Sorry to kick a dead horse but I was away for a couple of days. The stun gun makes no noises at all, and doesn’t work if I short it. I live in California and they’re legal, and with that being said and the price being about 18$ out the door; buying a new one is no skin off my back. I'm also creating...

Served/Serving in the Military

I decided to start a topic for those who are currently serving in the military and those who are veterans. Feel free to post your rate/occupation/branch of the military you served in. You can include any other info you’d like to share as well! I thought it would be interesting to see how many of us ...

Yes, I see your logic in the money saving Star. I might hold off on re-making a new strip until the new gun comes here and trouble shoot it one last time. If anyone else wants to contribute anything or throw out some idea's I'll be online in the chat for awhile.

They were all air-tight my friend. I used brass bolts, washers, and nuts. Everything was tightened down and my solder jobs on the tips of the stun gun were immaculate. I can't trouble-shoot any longer because as I noted, the stun gun is toast.

Spark Strip Fail

I just had an epic fail with the spark strip I posted earlier. Somehow the strip worked perfectly until I mounted it into the chamber. It wound up shorting out to the security prongs on the stun gun, and in the end the board on the gun fried somehow. It might have been a defective gun-- who knows? I...

I don’t mean to jump on the band wagon but that’s pretty much what everyone does now-a-days. You create a shorter more drastic edge on the interior and a longer less dramatic knife edge on the exterior, thus ensuring a smooth easy cut that fits tight.

Cheers! 8)

I understand your pain Radiation. The strip design I built had to undergo a few changes before I got it right. When I soldered the wire to the electrodes on the stun gun the plastic holding them in place melted a little causing the short out electrodes to shift. They shifted so much that they wound ...

Finish my current advanced combustion project.

Build a pneumatic utilizing (2) 2" supah-valve style QEV's.

Dabble in Hybrid's with my new mill.

Cheers!

Well I applaud you for your vast knowledge in flame propagation and heat absorption. There is not much at this point that I can do to avoid it. I will try to cut away some of the excess plastic on the strip but as for the copper, well I'm up the creek without a paddle per say. I hope that it doesn’t...

Go for a bbq electric ignitor if you can or research flyback ignition. In either case like lctchamp said, make sure to ajust your spark gap properly. P.S You building an advanced cannon?(chamber fan, spark strip, propane/mapp propellant) or a basic one? In any event, I'm sure it will turn out great!...

You just went from cap guns to capacitors. Which will it be? :?

Capacitors have been used several times before to produce sparks.

Check into CDI, that technique began in the 1950's for starting motorcycles.

How do you figure Jimmy? It puts 4 sparks in the middle of the chamber, leaving very little area within the chamber un-sparked. The spark fires through the strip; not just on one side. I also voltage tested the material and its still above 75,000 volts. Each piece is as sharp as a pin head JFYI whic...

VH Man, Thank you! I appreciate it! Starman, my chamber length is 20" and the gaps are every 3" of 15" of that space (that only leaves 5" left-over), so the flame front shouldn't suffer much, as you noted. I wanted to make larger holes underneath but I didn’t want to take away too much of the materi...

Spark Strip Advice

Hello, I just finished building what will be the spark strip for my cannon. I would appreciate any input and commentary. It is comprised of a 15 1/4" piece of 1" Sched. 80 PVC that has been cut length wise. Then I used a mill to cut a troth into it that was 1/4" in diameter to fit a 1/4" piece of co...
