Re: Question about setup for Combustion cannon
its just gas going down a tube so its the same principal... if you want a quieter launcher go with a longer barrel. if your really concerned about noise, you shouldnt be. you can be as loud as you want in the woods 8)

Something more along the lines of this (posted below). I prefer the more mechanical approach with ropes and stuff.

Re: elevation adjustment
Biged, LOVE the mortar, please tell me its functional :D thanks Zeus, but i dont think I could bring myself to use a turn buckle... Here's a hint about my capabilities, CWB qualified Welder/Fabricator with home access to welder (steel and aluminium), basic grinder, Oxy fuel torches and half a drill ...

Re: Howitzer Aiming
my only advice is lots of practice to get it dialed in and maybe one of those range finders for golf and set up some 6 foot tall targets down range.

Re: Golf Ball Howitzer

I test fired it without the carriage yesterday and go knocked on my ass. 2''pvc x3' chamber and 2''x6' barrel with a 1'' valve, same configuration with the breach too. luckily i work in a welding/fab shop and have access to a press brake and all sorts of cool stuff w...

Re: Golf Ball Howitzer
awesome howitzer there
im building a slightly larger piece with a modded 1" valve and was curious how the recoil was and if a recoil system might be considered?
Also, even as a Welder Fabricator i still find Oxy fuel guns terrifying.... it can be done safely but its still really unsettling.

Pressure control valve?
I have a very vague idea of what I recently aquired (for free). All I know is that it's a 2" pressure control valve made by singer and its freaking heavy.... From what I understand its essential a really big sprinkler type valve (diaphragm valve). Any ideas?
