I really don't see anything fundamentally wrong with the a typical advanced spud gun. The efficiency is a fair bit below a modern rifle but what do you expect from something that costs 1% of a decent rifle? The thought that you could engineer up a spud gun to match a real rifle is OK but ultimately...

Anyway, what I think would be innovative is instead of just another muzzle loading combustion with an "exotic fuel" how about we find a way to create a repeating combustion launcher. I mean it's been done before http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/gatling-1-t20903.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?feat...

What do you mean by ideal? If by an "ideal combustion cannon" you mean a perfect one....Well, let me give you the short answer.... There isn't one. I like the idea of a gasoline combustion cannon. But I don't see how that would really be anything radically innovative....And it seems to me that you w...

I decided to make the design. I am currently making the chamber out of pvc, i have layered 3" copper pipe to 3" pvc to 3" expanded pvc and fittings to 4" pvc. I plan on making the piston out of a 2.5" pvc cap. The chamber is going to be relativly small, being about 6 or 7 inches long with a 1 1/4 g...

@ijahman Could you go a little more in depth in your reloading system for the gas? I looked up on how "venturi nozzles" work and I understand how they work, but from my understanding you're using a regulator to regulate the mapp gas and the venturi nozzle to decrease the pressure but increase the fl...

Yes, that is exactly what I was talking about. The recoil wouldn't be a hard thing to deal with, simple as adding a all thread bolt, and a nut-fender washer-nut combo to hold the spring in place, and twist it to adjust tension. That way its easier to adjust for recoil, and you could possibly use hy...

Take a look through the show case and discussion, JSR has a combustion cartridge with shell ejection that may interest you. Doesn't use a gas ram, but it uses the force of the recoil to push the cartridge back and eject the casing. Interesting....Maybe if I could figure out a way to "measure" recoi...
