Actually, the original spud gun was a combustion and was built a hundred years before the Holman. Key word, spud . Volta made the first cork gun ;) Holman never shot, AFAIK, a spud from his "projector". He was trying to sell the device to the British Military as an antiaircraft weapon so I suspect ...

Steam powered spud gun?!?

hi,i have had an idea, a steam powered spud gun (it would be extremely clunky to use, but it would be pretty cool) bassclly, the idea is you have a metal container that you fill 3/4 with water, then heat this container, so that lots of stem pressure would build up, like i said, it probably wouldnt f...

To be honest, i do much prefer combustion, mainly because it takes much less effort as everything does not need to be perfectly sealed, and because i just cannot understand Piston valve (or cant be bothered to understand them)

EDIT: I used google sketchup to do this

What Do You Think?

hi, just a quick (quick for a pro, VERY long time for me.) mockup of my new, simple cannon, looks pretty cool though, switch on the front is for fan, rear is piezoelectric ignitor, i personally like simple designs., should be done reasonably soon if i can find all the parts.

first pneumatic cannon

i used a large (not sure of exact size) fire extinguisher as the pressure chamber, connected tow a ball valve, which is then connected to a copper pipe barrel, this is a very early design, and i hope to make the extinguisher into an air chamber, connected to a much smaller pressure chamber, and make...

That seems abit complicated for me, mabe i should do something smaller first, i was thinking it would be: schrader valve-pressure chamber- ball valve- barrel (maybe alot smaller than a gas cannister). Would this work ok?
