Re: PVC and ABS pipe for the barrel
As someone who has pressurized ABS Cellcore enough to wring 800fps from a sprinkler valve, I'm not exactly Mr. Safety, but I do wonder what your reservoir/chamber is made of. Can you make your barrel from that? If you just really like the smooth walls of the plastic pipe you can reinforce it by wrap...

I agree with Hectmarr that is a neat way to build a check valve.

Fun stuff... when I try to design along these lines I end up returning to crossbows though.

Re: Advice for pneumatic speargun
Fun project! To empty the charge you can have a bleed valve attached anywhere the launcher is pressurized. Also you could have a separate bleed valve attached to a fill nipple. It sounds like you want something like a conventional airgun to launch the spear? Maybe a spear with a tail that seals the ...

Re: preloaded pneumatic cartridge
Using the cut capsule did you fill it with something or leave it hollow? Hollow suggests dead space maybe?
Very cool air cartridge you built. Too much machining for me... remember the good old days of epoxy-cast-everything?

Re: Little help with my first prototype
That is a lot of work! Nice to see a mechanical trigger. Also the metal liner to hold the trigger and sear is a great idea. There are several other ways to set up a sear to hold back the valve but would require almost total redesign. If you can get yours to work I would stick with it. Basically I wo...

Re: Throwbag Cannon
More important for me is the failure mode. PVC makes sharp shrapnel, most ABS yawns or makes squared off pieces.
