so they'd use fuel and ignition, rather than CO2?

Re: CO2 paintball claymore
we do - we use those all the time! Not a bad idea. What you'd probably do is pull the pin to arm it, and have the servo flick off some sort of catch which is holding the spoon. The pin takes quite a bit of force to pull out. These are about $50 here in NZ. You're getting the CO2 charger/holder, and ...

Re: CO2 paintball claymore
yup - I thought of that. Seems a bit messy though - a pity as the sprinkler valve method is so simple. With those you get your valve and electric motor to trigger it all in one part.

Re: CO2 paintball claymore
look forward to seeing that QEV version. Can they be electronically fired? I really want to do that rather than trip wire......I have recently aquired Arduino skills which I want to use on them.

Re: CO2 paintball claymore
Ive only just gotten back to this. This is great :) Thanks for sharing - its exactly what Ive had in mind. Mine will benefit from your RnD - so thanks! Mine will be electronically triggered - I need to do it that way so I can make about 12 of them, and network them. Fire them by PIR instead of a tri...

Re: CO2 paintball claymore
humancarpentry....I havent got started yet. Parts here in NZ are less easy to get. The sprinkler valves are well overpriced. Also I'd like to use a smaller valve as I want my mine to be as small and cheap as possible. I dont know how those QEVs and pilot valve setups work yet......I guess I need to ...

Re: CO2 paintball claymore
thanks Jacks - I see that you can get those in lots of different ratings, so if I go with the remote line filling option, I could try different ones to get the optimum velocity. Start low, and go up in stages. If I used one of these on each one, I guess they could be filled until the valve releases ...

Re: CO2 paintball claymore
The QEVs - whats the score with those? These are smaller, and also electrically operated sometimes right? Could I use one of those in the interest of compactness? What are the pros and cons? Here in NZ, there are only a couple of brands of sprinkler valve - not much competition - and they're all exp...

Re: CO2 paintball claymore
That Orbit Watermaster valve is rated to 80psi. You're running it at 270. Can I assume then, than I dont need to worry too much about the pressure ratings on these things? Most of the ones I can find available here in NZ are rated to about 150psi.

Re: CO2 paintball claymore
humancarpentry - thanks so much sharing. You're doing exactly what I plan to do. Good to see the 12gram option.....being a spudgun noob, but a paintballer - I didnt think of this but can see how obvious it is now! You're considering changing to use a tyre filler with the 12 gram? Why's that? More or...

Re: CO2 paintball claymore
Thank you both for your thoughts. I do have a palmers reg somewhere - its not currently in use. Would prefer to keep it cheap as I want to make many. Was hoping that when the remote line is connected to the mine, you could carefully screw in the pin valve, and watch the pressure gauge on the mine. B...
