Re: Potato Howitzer
sorry for reviving an old thread but maybe there is some kind of update on the current status of this project No problem! I don't check this forum often enough, sorry :-P Here's a follow-up where I did some side-by-side testing with other designs. We tried being somewhat scientific so the last half...

An Attempt at Comparing Different Spud Guns!
I haven't seen a lot of side-by-side comparisons of different potato cannon designs. Since I have a bunch lying around, I figured I'd do some "scientific" (ha!) measurements of power, accuracy, etc, and see if I could narrow down which ones are the best. Now, I don't have anything super advanced her...

Re: Potato Howitzer
Looks outstanding. But the coax design is killing the performance. I would expect a gun that size to be firing something like a spud at about 150-200 MPH. From the video I would guesstimate about 50 MPH or less. Any idea what the chamber and barrel volumes are? But it does looks sweet. I don't have...

Re: Small pirate cannon
I'll look into swapping those out, I try to use all pressure-rated stuff but I have an assortment of pipe hoarded and might not have been paying attention. I've never done a pneumatic actuation on a sprinkler valve, will look into that. The electric system does seem to be a little laggy, hence the w...

Re: Potato Howitzer
Ha, the tubing at the beginning is plastic (not sure what sort actually). All of that stuff came from a work clean-up where someone left a bunch of junk behind. There was some metal tubing left behind as well, which I grabbed, but I don't own a welder (it's on the list sooner or later). I was thinki...

Small pirate cannon
Some friends talked me into chipping in on a horrible pontoon boat from Craigslist, so I figured it needed a cannon. 4.jpg Youtube vid of building and testing it: https://youtu.be/y364uvJSq-U I still need to swap out the air hookup for a self-shutting version, otherwise I've just been keeping it hoo...

Potato Howitzer
I just finished building a wheeled potato "howitzer" out of spare parts. It works pretty well, although I need to take it somewhere a bit more rural for testing once it's legit to travel around again. 1.jpg 2.jpg Youtube vid: https://youtu.be/ocxYe_j6nOw It's got the standard 2" barrel & 4" chamber ...
