I've had several experiences with hiting hard objects with aluminum bats and they can crack. It really isn't that easy tho. My opinion is that if the bat was the case they would have found little pieces of brains scaterd everywere, not pototos.

You usually can re-use them unless the cone gets smashed in or the nail bends. I think I will try using harded concrete nails in the future.
