Re: Cyclone Separator

here is a video of someone who have already built one That looks rather promising. I might have to do some testing with this type of setup. Thanks! Edit: After looking through the web site where the project was posted, I found out that the blower was indeed downstream from the cyclone. Must be too ...

Re: Cyclone Separator

Thanks Gippeto! If it must be pulled through, then it will probably not work for my application. My hope was that I could push material through because my blower will shred material as it is being sucked up. Without the blower pushing material through the cyclone, nothing will be shredded. I guess t...

Cyclone Separator

I am thinking about building a cyclone separator to be used with a leaf blower/vac for leaf collection in the fall. I would really like to be able to have the separator and a collection bin both mounted to my trailer so that I don't have to keep emptying the small canvas bag that is currently on the...

Re: SpudFiles Snow Report

I agree! The country had to clear our road there was trees down at both ends it sucked. Hell my landlord opened it up today with his tractor and plow, made all our neighbors happier then hell. The school that I work at had a ton of white pines that had fallen branches. We were just about finished c...

Re: SpudFiles Snow Report

Did the ice storm knock your power out? We went 3 days with out. I never lost power, but I had a lot of tree damage to clean up. Those white pines fall apart like they are nothing when they get a little bit of weight on their branches. I'm hoping that the sleet/snow mix we are getting over the next...

Thank you sir! I am quite happy to be getting married, although I have been in a tool buying frenzy here lately. Gotta stock up while I'm still the only one in charge of my finances :D

Re: SpudFiles Snow Report

I wish I was getting paid to dig my van out! I should get you and PeteS to come help me out  hell your both only 20 minutes away on a nice day with no traffic.... I'm never opposed to helping somebody out. I doubt I would be able to make it anywhere right now though. Between snow plow...

Re: SpudFiles Snow Report

In my part of Maryland we got 14 inches of snow last night, but we are supposed to get at least 4 more tonight. I love it!

Re: Back for a bit!

Hey, I'm in the same boat. I hadn't logged in for a few months, so I was also very surprised with the new layout. I'm getting married this coming June, so I have to get in as much Spudfiles time as I can before then. :D

The test is looking real good. The slow burn indicates a poor mix or running rich. See if you can get ignition with a shorter dwell time. With a good mix and not too rich, it can get quite loud. I'm thinking that part of the problem is that the propane is all just running to the bottom of my chambe...

Okay, here is a short video of the prototype I came up with. If you listen closely you can hear the solenoid clicking as it opens and closes, then a few seconds later the ignition system kicks in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ov3hhdEa5Jw&feature=youtu.be I don't have much experience with combustio...

Just a quick update: I put together a quick prototype to test out this type of meter, and it worked the first time :D I am very happy with the result! I might upload a video a little bit later.

Electronic Fuel Meter

I haven't been around on the forum much in the last few months, so please forgive me if this has already been mentioned on here. I did a few quick searches of the site and didn't find anything similar, so I figured I would go ahead and post. I have started building a propane meter for a combustion c...

Thanks for all the great info. That schematic seems like it should work well. To answer a few questions, the power source is going to be a wheelchair battery, which is just a 12v deep cycle lead acid battery. The drill is a dc motor that runs at 9.6v. With no load on the motor, I measured a draw of ...

Need help with an electronic circuit

Well, I am really new to making electronic stuff, and I am running into an issue with a project I am working on. The project is a chicken coop door that opens and closes automatically based on the amount of sunlight it receives. The door works by having an old drill wind up a rope to open and close ...
