alright fellows, I seemed to have solved the problem. In fact, im not quite sure there was a problem to begin with. I just wasnt allowing the air pressure to fill the valve enough to properly seat it. I was expecting for the chamber to immediately fill up. thanks for helping me troubleshoot anyway.

Its all coming together now and I have the last peice to the puzzle. "The local druggies" that you get your crack from have actually been selling you soap! well, would you mind reminding me which is the equalization hole? and there is no rod or anything above the phram , just the spring and then the modded cover/top. once again, thanks for helping me troubleshoot guys, especially u pimpmann. I'm just kinda pissed off because I really want it to work.

ahh, good point. the reason behind the long hose is that i had not gotten the correct fitting yet, but i have it now. I will try that now.
