Valve question

I was wondering if filling a piston valve would increase the valve's efficiency. Below is a link of the simulated valve. I thought that the released gas would have less area to expand and push the projectile with greater force. Please comment on the valve, like the possibility of making it better or...

Casting an epoxy piston with an o-ring?

I am currently building a "T" piston gun, and my design requires a piston with an o-ring. The piston would fit into a piece of 1/2 L copper pipe. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a light weight piston, with an o-ring, that could be made without a lathe. Thank you for any tips or ideas.

I did read posts and the CO2 bottle would be standing up straight with the brass valve on top so only gaseous CO2 would be released. Then as added safety benefits there would be the additional pop off valve and the CO2 bottle vould be connected via a quick connect. Still, I agree with you that the p...

I came up with a revised version of this because when testing the pop off valve the rise of the pin is actually very small, so I used the air released by the pop off to push a piston with the air pressure which would then close the ball valve. The only problem is with the second shot because the pop...

For the second pop off valve, which side do you mean? If it is closer to the CO2 tank than it would just leak until the entire tank was at 125 psi. If it is on the air chamber of the gun I agree with you and think that it would be a great idea. I am not quit sure what you mean for the ball valve, bu...

Hopefully by the time that the air tank hits 100 psi or 110 psi the pop up valve should have completely shut off the ball valve or to the point where no air could get through.

Homemade Regulator?

I thought of this while trying to think of how to make a semi-automatic gun. It works by using the pressure to push the piston in the pop-off valve back which turns the handle of the ball valve, although the hole on the pop off valve would have to be covered by a 1/2 inch copper coupling and epoxy. ...

Do you think that I would be able to twist the rod out after?

Rifled barrels

I was wondering if this idea would work for making homemade barrels. I would cut grooves into a metal or wooden rod, then center it in a larger copper pipe. About 3/4 copper if I wanted a 1/4 barrel. After the smaller rod is centered I would use a backyard foundry to melt aluminum and pour it into t...

copper piston question

I am building a copper pisston in a tee. I have the actual piston and the tee finished but I am trying to figger out how to trigger it. I am trying to fill a 1/2 inch copper 45 degree angle with copper epoxy, with a brass 3/8 connection inside the angle while it drys. Then I was going to drill a hol...

I like the trigger system where is is mor realistic and hopefully this way it could look more like the commercial guns. I also want this to work because I am trying to build something that looks like either the daystate rifle that JSR has or the new daystate hunter.

electronic piston valves

has anyone on this site ever tried to build a homemade piston valve that was triggered electronically. I just looked at how solenoids are triggered and it seems pretty easy with an bumper hooked up to an electromagnet. This is what I am thinking, but I think the electronics could be improved to incr...

why not hAve the lid be on a hinge so that when the burst disk goes of the balls and air blow the lid out of their way. Also is there anyway to electrically trigger a burst via a shock or something to the burst disk? The bail does not work that well because it makes only a small hole for the air to ...

Copper chamber question

How long of a 1 inch chamber do you think I need for a piston gun firing a 7 mm metal ball through a 3' 1/2'' foot barrel? The chamber is type L copper with a 1 inch tee for the piston.
