I have a bbq on mine and it works fine, if it doesn't work, it's usually because I have too much fuel in the chamber. But once I get the propane to air ratio right, it works every time.

it depends on your cannon, I would go for the 16oz propane tanks, they are super cheap at wallsmart, and you get 4oz more per a thank, and I think they actually cost less per a tank, kind of weird wouldn't you say....

oh, I understand what you mean about them being tappered, I mean actually cutting the threads off so there are only say about 3-4 threads on it, I cut about half of them off but there is still a gap but I'm not sure if it will stay on if I fire it.
