Re: Questions about pressure and flow rate
Assuming that there are two combustion chambers A and B, the volume of A is twice that of B, and the initial pressure of B is twice that of A, then theoretically, A and B should use the same amount of fuel, so their calorific values should be the same. Then the question comes, which one, A and B, c...

Re: Hybrid disk burst pressure effect on performance
Interesting research. Timing is also important, not just accumulating more pressure.

Re: Compression Ignition Hybrid Testbed
Another option to avoid premature ignition could be to use a high-octane fuel, but it would no longer be something you can get anywhere, and at a low price.

Re: Compression Ignition Hybrid Testbed
Excellent post!!! You can see all the experimental work with a single glance!!! It would be interesting for the, engineers the forum to participate, to make Jack and me aware of issues that we could not see... Any idea, concept, information or whatever, would be very welcome for this project. For my...

Re: Mini Hybrid II
That flash on the first objective was great. Good job and an inspiration to many, for sure.

Re: Hybrid geometry
An interesting question and I thought worth investigating, so I made the following modifications to the Mini Hybrid II : Blunt endcap insert: 20231123_211452.jpg Insert bore tapered: 20231123_214925.jpg I fired two shots each with both endcap variations, for each shot I used a 63cm long 0.177" barr...

Re: Fly-K mortar - "captive piston" variation
Nice launching system!! The Diesel hammer came to mind. I imagine that it would be impossible due to the weight of the ammunition necessary to achieve the compression necessary to achieve self-ignition of an air-fuel mixture. My inspiring system!

Re: Hybrid disk burst pressure effect on performance
This is very interesting. Intuitively, the highest pressure accumulated before burst would result in the highest velocity. It would stand to reason, though, that you want the disc to burst late enough to raise the chamber pressure sufficiently, but early enough for there to be unburnt fuel mix bein...

Re: Hybrid disk burst pressure effect on performance
In my view, that is the most feasible and simplest explanation. The longer the projectile is pushed by hot air that does not lose pressure as quickly, is better than hot air with more pressure that will always decrease if the maximum peak was reached before the projectile begins to move. I have veri...

Re: Dual Camera System to enhance combustion weapons.
It is clear what is happening, as far as I can understand. You can play with the size, shape and quantity of the hole. Also with the volumes of both chambers. Great that you can try all this. In my particular case, if 20 or 30% improvements can be obtained, I will apply it without hesitation to my w...

Re: Dual Camera System to enhance combustion weapons.
As seen in the tests, it could improve a combustion weapon. In a hybrid we could reach the same energies with more discs. Very interesting that we have proof of all this. As you think, maybe for a low pressure hybrid it can improve something.

Re: fl(air) gun - mechanically locked pneumatic cartridge for a 26.5mm flare gun
This modification idea could be used as an easy-to-manufacture check valve. The important thing is that it seals quickly without any spring.

Re: fl(air) gun - mechanically locked pneumatic cartridge for a 26.5mm flare gun
Awesome!! You're right, with steel it will last longer... I never thought that the abuse would be so much, but after seeing aluminum, they are very harsh operating conditions. Nice pictures!!

Re: Hybrid handgun with rupture disc
I compared it to a commercial PCP pistol of the same caliber and they shoot the same. Two meters from the target, with the same 16g pellet, they pass through the two three cans of soup. According to the stopwatch of my friends who have the same weapon, it is around 700 to 750 fps with 130 bar in the...
