Re: Questions about mixing multiples
In fact, I have used 12 times of pure oxygen and propane to accelerate a steel ball with a diameter of 10.5mm and a weight of 5g to 575m/s. According to the kinetic energy formula, this steel ball carries 800j of energy, which has far exceeded the kinetic energy of a 9mm pistol, so I think it is pos...

Re: Benjamin Model 30/30 CO2 Carbine Repeater "Hot Shot"
I hope it is something simple the problem of your machine. It looks like it :) It's a doubIe capacitor motor, I took it apart to look at the centrifugal switch and nothing seems to be broken or dirty: https://i.imgur.com/Kr3p9NZ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/nWkxZTf.jpg Of the two capacitors however, acc...

Re: A brand-new ignition method
I would like to focus the conversation on the possibility of turning on a high pressure chamber with a lower pressure one, which is the subject of your publication. what you explain about increasing the pressure with two connected chambers, I know well, because I have already talked about it here. ...

Re: A brand-new ignition method
Looking good! I assume that in the interest of safety you've made sure that all the pipes and fittings are rated for the expected pressures after ignition ;) I note that while the paper you shared concluded that "When the volume of the initiation end is larger than that of the booster end, you can g...

Re: Is there a more active website than this?
I think the fact that this forum is slightly active at all is because it's more or less the only such forum left, at least in the Anglosphere. There is also the Francophone "Patator" forum that used to be very active but it's even more quiet now, there is a post from more than 5 years ago lamenting...

Re: Is there a more active website than this?
You think it's bad here? Try getting involved in making pulsejets :P "the death of the forum" has been ongoing for a while, with several technologies vying to take its place. All sorts of gamifyng and the like, and it pulls users from forums with glitz and pizzaz, but the problem as I see it is that...

Re: Benjamin Model 30/30 CO2 Carbine Repeater "Hot Shot"
I managed to source this capacitor locally: 270μF instead of the original 300μF but it seems to have done the trick ;D https://i.imgur.com/ThXUFgQ.jpg 270μF instead of the original 300μF but it seems to have done the trick ;D hurrah! https://youtu.be/9LjxU5QbVtE The capacitor came with a resistor be...

Re: Questions about pressure and flow rate
theoretically, A and B should use the same amount of fuel, so their calorific values should be the same. They use the same amount of fuel, but B generates higher pressure and will therefore outperform A by a considerable margin, because projectile acceleration will be greater. Edit: here is a compa...

Re: Questions about pressure and flow rate
Assuming that there are two combustion chambers A and B, the volume of A is twice that of B, and the initial pressure of B is twice that of A, then theoretically, A and B should use the same amount of fuel, so their calorific values should be the same. Then the question comes, which one, A and B, c...

Mini Hybrid II
It's been over a decade since I first made this project and almost as long since I dabbled in hybrids so here is a recent project along the same lines: 20231108_233649.jpg Nothing particularly special about the design, chamber volume is around 34cc and it's currently fitted with a 490mm long 6mm bar...

Hybrid disk burst pressure effect on performance
One of the experiments I've done with this project to to see how burst disk strength influences performance. Intuitively one would tend to think that the stronger the disk, the higher the pressure it will burst at and therefore the better the performance will be; this might be true of a pneumatic bu...

Compression Ignition Hybrid Testbed
As mentioned earlier what was presented as the Mini Hybrid II is actually a component of a wider project that I will attempt to detail here. I would first of all like to thank hectmarr with whom this project was a collaboration and without whose input would not have happened. Here is an animation sh...

Re: Compression Ignition Hybrid Testbed
Back in the day, we had little diesel aero engines that ran on a mix of ether and castor oil. A good source for ether might be one of those easy-start cans.
