Re: "In the world of spuds today"
ITWOST (and I realize nobody asked) The last holdout from my pre-Marines-days got decommissioned today because I haven't bothered to replace the mixture fan in it since 2014~ish, and I needed the 3" (pressure rated) pipe for another project (managing so far to build everything with stuff I had alre...

Re: Self contained airsoft, pump action.
Ah, that makes sense. I should probably invest in making some of those since all I have are rings and buckets of sand to use until the gyms open back uip.

Re: Question regarding spigot mortar style ammo.
Not only do you have the dead space to contend with, but the pressure will be acting on a smaller surface area than it would with a barrel which fit the same sized projectile (if that makes sense), so you would almost always be better served (performance-wise) making a barrel larger than your projec...

Re: New member... my baby, Big Red
What's the construction? Using pure oxygen + fuel in plastic piping isn't a great idea. Maybe that's why you didn't actually fire the thing in the video.

Re: Pnuematic Cannon Making Very Loud Noise....!
The valve is "honking", which happens when your pilot doesn't let out enough air and the diaphragm attempts to reseal itself rapidly. The included solenoid is usually very low flow, designed to pilot the valve at normal water pressure. Since air is compressible, you usually need more flow for your p...

Re: New member... my baby, Big Red
"pure oxygen" and fuel? Maybe you noticed the vacuum pump hidden in the battery box that evacuates the chamber before filling it with "pure oxygen and fuel". I didn't notice much of anything since you just posted a video. ;) You sound pretty smart, we just tend to get nervous when people post pictu...

Re: Potato Howitzer
Nice! I'm very impressed by all the "errata" like the homemade scrap elevation adjustment and frame. I can tell a lot of persistence was required to get all of that to fit together, good job! Few suggestions: 1.) As far as the recoil springs, they probably won't do much with light projectiles like l...

Re: Re:
The fan should be placed on the other side of the spark gap or it is at large risk of being blown apart. Fan at the back is problematic? Mine is mounted about 2 inches from the rear, never had a problem or had to replace it... Sgort has been gone for several years. Last I checked his channel on you...

Re: "Offtopic-posts-topic" NSFW
I need to get back to building. :/ I've had AR parts lying around since last fall but I finally got around to getting a lower a month ago and have been building that instead of the cannon I need to be finishing.

Re: Crosman 1330 "Thumper" concept
Straaaange timing, both this post and me happening to check my "Spudfiles" label in gmail. The 1322 I want to "breathe on" is in the mail right now. (along with a steel breech and longer barrel) I still have to source the 1389 pump handle for a "1389 clone" (which was difficult in 2008, I can't even...

Re: Need help
Second here for using a burst disk and syringe metering. In terms of complexity, the next step up from that would probably be manometric (using chamber pressure to measure fuel and air) fueling. The type of fueling SB15 uses on his cannons is volumetric ("air through meter" design which is pretty ac...

Re: Victorian "Air Cane" brought back to life
Nice! That mainspring certainly is the "folded from a piece of spring steel" kind from percussion and flintlocks. Absolutely beautiful and amazing it still works today compared to modern springs from only a few decades ago. :D How finely have you tried adjusting the distance between the barrel and v...
