Re: I see we have a new skin …

Overall it looks good, nice to see that everything now loads properly over TLS, and the new skin is far more aesthetically pleasing than the ~2013 iteration, which made the site look like a shitty nerf gun forum from 2003. This may sound harsh, but with that abomination in the scrapheap where it be...

Reputation system and the new layout

One of the things that seems to have been lost with the redesign is the previous reputation system, forum ranking is now based on post count. I see we now have a "thanking" system but it seems a shame that the previous thumbs up/thumbs down ranks are lost and it has been reset to zero. Stalin would ...

Re: "In the world of spuds today"

Thanks Al! Nice acquisitions, and quite a big step up from the Sherline. It is! At first I was just going to move the Sherline from work to home. I realized however that even though I now have access to the great outdoors, I still hadn't moved away from the "pen gun mentality" so to speak and the Sh...

Re: Quest for paintball alternatives

I have been seeking alternatives to paintballs for some time and thought I had the perfect solution in the "dimpled wax shell powder balls" but they are now not available apparently despite the continued listing by several retailers. We stopped importing them due to lack of sales, also they were qu...

Re: Ideas for biodegradable cannon-balls

I got no problem s##ting right into the barrel myself. Hey JSR, can I borrow your chrony to see how fast it goes? I will quote the late Senator Robert A. Taft, commenting on the return of Lend-Lease materials supplied to America's allies during the Second World War: "Lending war equipment is a good...

Re: Single pumping hybrid, "Strong Boy"

Great idea! This way you are not limited to spherical projectiles... I had tried to make something similar a long time ago where a solenoid pushes a bolt forward simultaneously chambering the projectile while opening a balanced valve but sadly both my materials availability and electronics knowledge...

Here a video of the operation.
Wow, the muzzle velocity is much lower than I expected :o

Looks great, very inspring! An electro-pneumatic repeater will definitely be on the cards once I get my workshop sorted.

Re: JSR's workshop chronicles

At last, it's alive! https://i.imgur.com/SmWzrj1.gifv Did some running in on the lathe, everything seems to be working nicely :D The only thing I'm not happy about is the compound slide. Even with the gib screws loosened it seems to "stick" at some points, the handwheel movement isn't smooth at all....

excellent use of the blow-forward valve, I really should incorporate it in one of my designs some day. Lovely damage shots too, though is the power a little inconsistent? Some of the GBs just slam through, others appear to ricochet.
