wear do you get ball bearings
I found ball bearings at my local Ace, but they weren't very cheap... I think a non-spherical ammo would have better performance.
Ball bearing depot.
Mcmaster has them.

In holland I can buy reloader lead balls online.
I doubt it makes sense to order off a Dutch website for you, but there is bound to be a similar site in the US.
Google for muzzle loader lead balls.
They come in different sizes, are CHEAPER ( !!) and harder hitting.

McMaster for sure. They have everything from 0.05"D to 4.5"D
Chrome steel balls are much cheaper than stainless steel;
Alloy (chrome) Steel Ball, 7/16"D, Grade 25, #9528k22, 100 for $11.83
Stainless Steel (Type 302) Ball, 7/16"D, Grade 100, #9291k33, 25 for $10.96

Ebay is the way to go. Buy them in bulk, its cheaper. What size were you looking for?
This store has practically every size, type, amount you can think of.

Probably not really any cheaper, lead is pretty expensive and lead shot will only go up to what ~1/4"? Besides, lead is not very environmentally friendly.POLAND_SPUD wrote:I've found similar site.... cosider using them - they are very likely to be cheaper than ballbearings and naturally they are heavierIn holland I can buy reloader lead balls online.

Mcmaster:
9030K29, Lead Shot 0.440"D Lead Balls, 5 lb Container, $64.43
I believe that works out to about 360 balls at 18 cents/ball versus ~12 cents/ball for chrome steel (9528k22).

Those prices are not very good, McMaster looks a lot cheaper.daberno123 wrote:Ebay is the way to go. Buy them in bulk, its cheaper. What size were you looking for?

McMaster: 1/2" chrome steel, $13.60/100, 13.6 cents/ball (#9528K24)
Ebay site: 1/2" chrome steel, $22.00/100, 22.0 cents/ball
The problem with McMaster's ball bearings is, after you get over 1", you have to buy the high precision aircraft grade ones, and pay several times as much. Which means if you want a decent cannon ball, there are better places to shop (although, even at 20 bucks a pop, it certainly would be nice to have a few of those 2" diameter hardened steel bearings).

It really depends on what you are buying.jimmy101 wrote:Those prices are not very good, McMaster looks a lot cheaper.
Ebay store: 10 1/2" 440c SS bearings- $8.00
McMaster: 10 of the same for $12.18 (part #9642K57)
There are some deals there, and some are better than others.
