I think this should tell you all you need to know......

yes, mabey i shot it with an air rifle, but the power of my air rifle is relative to that of someone whipping a rock at something......... and for this to happen near you would be devistating.

its also just damn cool to watch........ :-D

Also: i recently found the peices and have the pics of the aftermath:

What brand and model air rifle you got? My crosman pumpmaster 760 can easily punch through one of those at only 625 fps.

Interesting.... I very much agree with you. I wouldn't want that near me if it were to go off. Thanks for taking the time for a video. Its much appreciated.

um sorry to say, but older rifles tend to have even higher fps because back in the day they gave the same bb gun to any person of any age, their was much less fps variety back then

I have chronoed it. Its around 600 FPS at 10 pumps, wich gives me about 3 ft/lbs with the pellets i was using........

well, it should easily pierce an unpressurized bottle, so you didnt reveal much we didnt know, no offense.

Lol I like the suspense... It keeps you staring at the screen and you dont know when its going to explode... and then BLAM!
Kind of disturbing though, but I have only made 1 cannon with a soda bottle and used it only once.

yea, but peircing is one thing and THAT is another thing..........

The main thing is, plastic bottles are safe as long as 600 fps pellets arn't flying at them

lets put it this way........ you trip and fall with your pressurized soda bottle on a bunch of rocks.......... BLAM.

and like i said, this thread was more for the fact the video is insane.......

But maybe you would drop them and happen to go off, this is what the effect would be. He is just trying to say what it would be like to have a bottle at 150 psi explode in your face, not what pressure it can be taken to.

Edit: Damn, you beat me... :D

well now that i think about it, if your whole body falls on it, the air would be concentrated out the cracks before it propels the fragments.
In fifth grade i remember my high school chem class coming down too the elementary school and giving us some demos. They filled a 10 gallon tank with rubbing alcohol, lit and kablow! A fragment hit a kid smack in the head, and their was absolutely no damage. The thing is, the plastic is not massive, or dense enough to hurt anything.
