I am trying to source parts for my new combustion launcher. I am going the onboard metered propane route.

I can't find an adjustable high pressure propane regulator. Can someone give me a model of a good one that I can order?

Also, why the need for the regulator? Does it limit the pressure going into the meter, or what?

People use the regulator so they dont have to make metering the propane such a big task.

Well, I don't want metering to be a big task. I will probably use the regulator, I am just wondering what exactly it does to make things more convenient.

It regulates the amount of propane. (the link works for me just fine)

So I wouldn't have to worry so much about the size of my meter?

if you have a meter that want's 60psi of propane you tweak your reg to 60 psi and there you go

For any meter size, you'll want an accurate psi in that meter to fuel a particular chamber volume...[did that make sense]...

Say you determine you need 50 psi in your meter, the regulator can be set to allow only 50 psi. Otherwise you get an unregulated blast of propane that you can't control and varys with the ambient temperature.

Here's a pic of a regulated propane delivery system. Just set the regulator to the psi you want and it will consistently fill the syringe with that amount.



Also, looks like you're in NC so most things can be had at Home Depot or Lowe's. If you run up on an odd part, Mcmaster is your friend. Also, BCarms may carry some things of interest to you.

every regulator that is rated between 200 and 300psi will work.

I believe it's time you took a little field trip there...

we dont have a home depot. we have a lowes, a true value, a tractor supply, and i didnt find a hi pressure one anywhere.

Lowe's has these as well...look in the air compressor area in Tools.

Why would you need a high pressure regulator? A propane tank won't climb past 200psi internal pressure unless you're doing something to it that you shouldn't be.

I searched lowes, they have 2 of em.

well the low pressure ones i found were rated at like 11 psi and such nonsense. nor were they adjustable.
