What to do with all this copper???
A friend of mine who works at a welders supply shop just gave me a 10ft stick of 1.5" type L, a 10ft stick of 1.25" type L, AND a 10ft stick of 1" type K....
I'm thinking, use some of the 1.5" to make a hipres chamber for my mini modgun (36" .40 cal blowgun barrel with a .5"od compression to 3/4" npt fitting attached to a 3/4"qev with 18" of 1.5"type L copper chamber[it's currently 18" of 1.25sch40 as the chamber])...
And how about the 1" type K as barrel for a steel gun pushing 500+ psi???(time to stock up on 1" bearings)....
I know some of you copper junkies have got some idea's....

melt it all down, and sell it. then make a bunch of PVC guns =)
But really, nice job on getting the large diameter copper pipe. I say pure copper rifle style, with a 1/2" copper bore.

1" type K drawn copper has a rated working pressure of 1126psi, and a burst pressure of 7200psi.
1 1/4" type L drawn copper has a rated working pressure of 755psi with a burst pressure of 4550psi.
1 1/5" type L drawn copper has a rated working pressure of 702psi with a burst pressure of 4100psi.
Lots of (safe) wiggle room.
Use of 95/5 tin/antimony solder is recommended.
Un-regged CO2 with a 1" or 1 1/4" bore???

Oh YEAH!!! How many psi can you compress helium to??? Mach What??? Cinderblock walls won't be a sufficient backstop??? Muzzle energy rated in tons???

With CO2... Mach nothing.
But serious punch as the projectiles will be on the heavy side, and WILL be moving, shall we say... "briskly".
My marble gun gets 750fps with 400psi CO2 and 14mm glass marbles.
830fps with 400psi air.
Convenience costs fps I suppose.

Depends... Nitrogen is pretty convenient once you have a container and a place to fill it.Convenience costs fps I suppose.

For high pressure stuff, silver brazing solder is recommended.Gippeto wrote:1" type K drawn copper has a rated working pressure of 1126psi, and a burst pressure of 7200psi.

True enough Jook.
Still, the bottles for CO2 are smaller and lighter for transport, and using liquified gas does provide more shots per bottle.
Only a problem if you leave the yard I suppose.
Edit:@ Tech; Brazing copper aneals the tube, LOWERING the maximum safe pressure.
