It's inert, not sure if it was actually meant to be fired or just used for firing drills. Looks like a British 3 inch/81mm round but haven't been able to identify it exactly.

It's marked "PRAC" which in all probability means "practice", there is no fuse fitted nor is provision for a fuse, and in any case the previous owner informs me he used to throw it around quite happily as a child... so yeah

Funny you should post this now, a kid out here brought a grenade to school for show and tell, the b0mb squad had to come out and deal with it, not before the staff and some students buried it in the oval!
I almost used emoticons then, I'm slipping.
Edit: Even if it was live but lacking a fuse, you'd have to shoot it with a rifle which has a muzzle energy rivaling a .243, more like a .308 win mag
