Doubt it. Every time one of these things gets built people start to get worried about stuff like this, and nothing ever happens. Hawking radiation causes singularities with such little mass to disintegrate before they can suck anything into them.

If we are wrong... well, I couldn't ask for a more interesting death. Could you?

Now that is a good one.
Wait until the accelerator is in its final completed stage then sue.Engineers have been working on this thing for years. Why did it take the guy until now to sue.
Oh well at least he's suing the EPA, we can be happy for that at least.

And you're right Fnord, being as how we don't know much of anything about black holes it would be pretty cool to see what happens after you get sucked in

That sounds like some serious bollocks.

Comparing the colossal mass of star that has collapsed to the miniscule bits of squished particles zapped in that thing is insane.

i think there is about the same chance of the earth being sucked into a black hole as there is leprechauns winning a war against unicorns...

I doubt there is any force on earth that could even come close to the energy of a small black hole..., they are just trying to get a story.

@thunderlord: Its only funny when JSR links us to strange/weird/disgusting shit, you don't have that privilege yet. Besides, everything he links us to is in some way related, not about the entertainment value of masturbation, unless that is what we are talking about...

bwahahahaha that just sounds so diabolical, scientist creating a destructive black hole, haha now if there were something about a ransom in there

although when you think about the partical acceleration, it whould have to suck in the chamber, and that chamber would have to implode so the surrounding mater can help the hole grow, oh man that gives me an idea put a micro black hole in a high tolerance chamber, attach a bomb send to enemy planet and detonate the bomb, and out grows a black hole, man screw the death star, black hole bombs can implode planets

many physics issues with that plan, but that would be one hell of a plan.
Lol, we are sending this bomb at you, and if you blow it up or destroy the tank in any way, you will all die. Your only hope of survival is to maintain the integrity of this container for all of eternity! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

It's bullshit. Besides, even if the fearmongering turns out to be true, I'll be happy. I've always wanted to see exactly what the fuck happens when you cross the event horizon of a black hole.

Steven Hawkings is probably laughing right now...

Honestly, most of his lectures are free to read on his web site. People should take a few seconds and mosey on over thar'...

leprechauns winning a war against unicorns...
And I thought the war was going so well for the leprechauns....

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....honestly the things people will do to get a some attention around here....HAHA....

If it does happen I would have accomplish the 101'st thing on my list to do be fore I die...see the event horizon of a black hole up close and personal...consequently theres only 101 things I want to do before I die...
