Haha, isn't that how germany always is... JK
You might have gotten me addicted to making slingshots... (Much more ghetto ones) but here's one I made earlier...
It has tire tube as the band, cuz I didn't have anything better. It's fun though cuz it shoots airsoft bbs hard enough to annoy people but not enough to hurt at all...

Best regards from Germany (currently a loud, drunk country, thanks to soccer).
You're thinking of Ireland.Haha, isn't that how germany always is...
A dedicated pouch would probably make that a nicer slingshot though.

I would but it's not worth it... It's so weak (because of the bands) that there's really no point. I made two more and put a real band/tube on it...

Do you not like computer keyboards? As you seem to insist on making
people damage their keyboards with saliva.
Very nice nice work, I'd like to be able to use a powerful slingshot, but
I'm stuck with a surgical tubing one. I can handle my Darton SL50 well,
but I can't get the nice Thera bands or make a good frame.
I look forward to seeing where you go next.
Regards
Lachlan

I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges.
Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.

Well, slingshots are clearly amongst the most phallic weapons in general! Except, they are way too small. By German standards, the grip alone would have to be about 12 inches long.
Have worked some more on the Sling-X-Bow concept. It worked well, but the original one was very loooong, not exactly compact. So I designed a bullpup version!
The shoulder rest is now very close to the pouch release, and the hand grip/trigger is canted so it does not colide with the sliding fork. Also, I simplified the release, no more rollers and only one moving arm. This works great!
I used a simple iron sighting system for now, which really is good enough for shooting distances up to 20 meters. The BOM (bill of materials) is about 10 Euros (13 dollars) for this thing.
Here is the video:

I am doing my thing too.
I tried 1 moving arm but the pouch side near the moving arm will pull to the fork and it will uncenter the ball.
Mine is bass-ackwards to your crossbow, with its fixed fork.
A few design points of mine to keep you guessing:
All parts except the purchased barrel were made using hand tools.
It is presently strung with a single black Theraband tube that can be adjusted to any pre-pull length.
It attaches to the pouch with a snare knot locked with a constrictor knot.

The draw can be made with a two handed dead lift and with a foot on a stirrup.
I can stop the pull at every inch along its 48" length.
The trigger is pulled back with the pouch locked securely in place.
This design offers the potential of a feed magazine.
Weighs about 3 pounds.
Coming soon!

Stu, sounds great!
BTW, I compensated for the uncentering by making the fork asymmetrical as well. Uncentering is OK as long as it is reproducable! This also made it safer to hold the weapon, as the band is away from your holding arm.

Out of interest, what do you grind/sand/polish the welds with? I can get a normal piece of metal to look very nice, but don't have the same knack with welds. I tend to make a mess by going too far with the grinder or hitting neighboring pieces of metal.
