make it with a union and have a chamber filled with dry ice and water that when thrown the dry ice would hit the water and create enough pressure to blow?
It would work, all you would need is a system that would only allow the 2 to be mixed after being thrown.
Maybe a ball valve?
That sounds like a good idea. You could also do something like a qev piloted by a pop off valve.

Actually, you could do something like those cold packs where the two are separated by a membrane, and just have somethign to break that. But also, youd have to worry about sending chunks of dry ice flying at someone, dry ice burns.

good point I will work on that
All you have to do is turn it upside down (ie load it with the cap end facing the breech) and make sure the nail has a stop to prevent it from falling out on firing.
then wouldn't the rush of air push the triger

do cold packs even produce gas, enough for a burst disk
and mister stevee
that won't go off on impact but its good for a trip wire

what about when the projectile lands, and when you get it figured so it lands on the nail, every time, the pressure from the bottle is going to push the nail backwards once the cap is punctured, will the dab of hot glue be able to hold it in, and will the impact side of the projectile be wide enough compared to its length with the soda bottle on it, to prevent it from toppling over, and aiming said nail at someone?

The idea wasn't to use a cold pack. I was suggesting doing something similar to the mechanism by which they operate. The chemicals are separated by a membrane, then you squeeze the thing and the membrane breaks, allowign them to mix. You could have a similar membrane separation two chemicals in this device.

Has anyone thought of tying a tail on the end of this thing so that it will land on the nail each time? Also, as far as the nail coming out, you could affix a collar (the kind that tightens with a hex screw) on the nail so that it won't come out due to the pressure.

man its about time I found my camera I got the pics here, however I didn't mix the epoxy well enough on my other prototype so it never dried completely so I used an end cap but I think I'm getting the hang of my marine grade epoxy so the next one will probably have a epoxy plug

Why don't you bury it and have some 90* turns pointing up?
That way it could be a mine.
Why do I try to make a relevant post?
