Well I mostly play woods. When I bought my Spyder TL-R, I didn't know what I'd like best, but I find it pretty good for woodsball. The ROF is pretty good for an unmodded gun, I can shoot as fast as I want and I have yet to break paint. Mine came with a 12-inch barrel and a 16-inch barrel and I love the 16, the accuracy is good out of the box, though I am looking at a rifled barrel for it. And they're pretty easy to mod later, the lady I buy my stuff from has the same model as me, except she's replaced the bolt, the trigger frame, the feed neck, the air system, the barrel, and the hopper. She tells me she gets about 35 RPS. I've personally never used a Tippman, but I love this Spyder, it's pretty efficient as well.

35 RPS, why do you need that much, I have found the 15 RPS is more than sufficient (woodsball). Playing woodsball I have found that if you install a Diska on your barrel and fire a burst of 3 or full auto, your teammates and the enemy hides from the sound. They greatly enhance the sound of the marker making your ears ring if you shoot close to your head.
Anyways, I would love to see a video of her gun shooting 35 BPS.

ahhhh. reminds me of the time in airsoft when i beat a whole team of AEG's with my trusty MK23 Spring pistol...........
yes, spray and pray is dumb, but its the easy way. and everyone does it.
i find myself doing it alot in airsoft, but thats mostly because my gun couldnt hit a person from 50 feet if they were standing still. full auto i "put the plastic out" and can actually hit them.
full auto just gives you that fast reaction time, and rids the need to look down the sights to get an accurate shot.

That's how it should be,but this is how it is:Why must people simply spray and pray in paintball, no skill.
Why don't people just use burst or use a pump action?
Code: Select all
she gets about 35 RPS
People would be amazed at how many times I get asked, "where's your hopper?" or get scoffed at because I don't have the DM #whatever. That's okay,I have my revenge out on the field.
If you want to force yourself to play with your mind and not firepower I suggest a pump.If you want to go out and blow away a whole bunch of paint go semi. Both have there pros and cons.Expect to not shoot as many people with a pump. The pump mindset is not to take out everyone,it is to take out that key player to turn the tide of the game.
Either way you're going to have fun.

i recently changed my spyder into a real closed-bolt pump. shoots pretty nice.
I doubt that the lady can shoot 35 cps, which is cycles per second not rate. Even though blowback guns like spyders can shot up to 47 or so, it is hard to without a new board. Even with a rocking trigger, it is still not possible to reach up to 30. \
btw, in speedball, your not allowed to use full auto. In tournaments like PSP, there is a mode called psp ramping.
also, a rifled barrel does not do anything on a paintball gun. Lapco, a paintball barrel brand, and tested it and it has the same accuracy so dont waste your money on a rifled barrel.

Thanks for all that info everyone, you have really helped me understand the guns and stuff like that.
I plan on playing a bit of everything until i find which one i prefer. I'm looking for an all round marker. I'm also planning on modding the gun as much as i can to suit my playing style and the game I'm playing. I'm in Australia so i can't really buy paintball marker equipment of eBay.
EDIT: I don't plan to spray and pray, ill use a small burst or a single shot

By the way, I play pump, I love it so much! Really fun and I enjoy the challenge. I have built up rep at my local field and am mainly know as the sneaky little f***er with the pump gun I am always trying to better my skill and as a result I am very good. It is all about knowing your equipment. Lots of people fear me for my up close and fast style of play, for I while I played with my velocity running low so I could subconsciously teach myself to move around and avoid being noticed until it was too late, it is not uncommon for me to flank most if not all of an apposing team.
now to show off some pump sweetness. I play with an Armson pump action paintball rifle, no longer in production, old and rare. But I still drive nails in with it.

I personally don't need 35 RPS, but for all those speedballers out there, God help their poor, brain-cell defficient souls, they might like it. I usually just fire a couple over the bow to get them to twitch, then take better aim on their position, and pwn them when they stick their head out.Orpackrat wrote:I have a few friends and there first guns were Spyders, now they have gone to 98 Customs and say they love them, others still have there Spyders and say there just fine. I don't think that only a player with a pump could be that good, I think someone with a semi could be just as skilled. The problem with most players is that they rely on their equipment far too much, like speedballers. The pump does teach you to rely more on your own skill than on the power and ROF of your weapon, but the same lessons can be learned with a semi, you just have to work at it more. I don't rely on my gun to win matches, I prefer stealth.frankrede wrote:Exactly!
Pumps are not dead!
With a pump, if you know how to use one, you'll be the player with best K/D ratio
EDIT: Oh and Noxi, I know ramping isn't allowed, but just because it's not allowed doesn't mean people don't have it. She has an electronic board and some kind of fancy bolt that can ramp the ROF up way high. Speedballers, psh, when will they learn.

Oh, well screw that, that would completely defeat the purpose of the ghillie suit I'm making, lol. I think I'll pass on this one.
