Did you show them the pepper spray/dual knife sling shot? There are several guys from the German slingshot community, small as it is, that do not appreciate my work because they think I am a walking provocation for the government... so they are afraid of a "lex JoergS", banning slingshots entirely.

@joerg
my advice - stay away from them... I had the same problems when I mentioned spudguns on an airgun forum...
I got the impression that they would love to call the police and give them my IP address

In countries where laws are already tight, this is the overwhelming attitude of most users, extremely keen to disassociate themselves with anything that isn't clearly above board. I don't blame them really, I don't discuss my activities with local lead distribution enthusiasts, even though I know there's a lot of grey area if not downright illegal activities going on.POLAND_SPUD wrote:I got the impression that they would love to call the police and give them my IP address
I sure did... they flamed me but good.MrCrowley wrote: Did you show them the pepper spray/dual knife sling shot?
But hey, my work attracts a lot of people, I received many PNs and emails from guys that said they want to buy or make a slingshot because of my videos.
Most of these people did not look at slingshots earlier because they thought of them as weak toys.
My guess is that about 10 to 30 % of the male population (me included) has that "warrior gene" and is attracted to weapons. We can't help it. Most (like me) have no intention to fight or go to war, but we like weapons anyway. It is in our blood.
So when they see in my vids that a modern slingshot with the great rubber available today is much more effective than an air gun, some will go for it.

A percentage that's sadly diminishing thanks to the gradual "pussification" of Western societyJoergS wrote:My guess is that about 10 to 30 % of the male population (me included) has that "warrior gene" and is attracted to weapons. Definitely, because unless the trend is reversed when the time inevitably comes to fight off the Islamic hordes threatening our shores (yes, I'm being dramatic ) all we're going to be left with is an army of whining, cottonwool covered sissies who can't tell their arse from their elbowJoergS wrote:Will add it to my list of words that need more public exposure.

... which is?NZ Herald wrote:But Professor Hook said there was evidence they had several serious flaws in their scientific reasoning.
.The professor, whose PhD is in biochemistry, said not only was the science doubtful, but the ethics of claiming "genetic explanation for negative social and health statistics" had been questioned
What kind of a statement is that, from a scientist? If such an explanation truly exists, then it's ethical to alter the facts?

a) I think "pussyfication" is widespreaded amongst the scientist community
b) different gene, the article talks about Maoris. I am not talking about races. I think the gene is (still) spreaded throughout the entire species of homo sapiens sapiens.

Sadly there seems to be more billy jean than warrior gene about these daysMrCrowley wrote:The only relevant thing in the link is the name, 'warrior gene'
Well, I at least am familiar with it. Not sure where I got it from though, I use words from a great deal of different sources.MrCrowley wrote:Haha it appears the hiking meaning of tramping is only Aus/NZ.
It's the only attitude you can sensibly take (at least outwardly) if you want your hobby to remain legal. Even I, when on airgun forums, will advise people against anything of questionable legality, and certainly won't admit to anything more than "tinkering with paintball guns in my spare time".jackssmirkingrevenge wrote:In countries where laws are already tight, this is the overwhelming attitude of most users, extremely keen to disassociate themselves with anything that isn't clearly above board.

And it's a damned shame nobody was hurt. Shoot a slingshot at the cops and they should return fire with lead. Chlorine for the gene pool!JoergS wrote:The ban of braced slingshots came when a bunch of demonstrants in the 1970's shot steel balls from cheap, braced slingshots against the heavily armed cops. The balls damaged a few shields and other equipment, so even though noone was hurt, the government banned braced slingshots.
Alas, the world is populated with pussies these days.
