I know for a fact that that on dragstrips in mid to late 1960's these "Line Lock"devices were used even though I did not use one.

I even had a six speed manual transmission on my 1961 Bel Air "Bubbletop" with a 348 cu in (was a truck engine) with three deuces (carbs).
This was the predecessor to the 409 and the start of big blocks for Chevy.
Some people think 6 speed transmissions are new.

I even made a comment to one of my mechanic friends that you will see Electronic Fuel Injection in the future! He laughed his a$$ off at me!

Agree with him all you want. Fine, it works for a warm-up burnout. Fine, a lot of people do it that way. A lot of people also use cell-core for cannons without getting killed. A large group of people doing something the wrong way does NOT make it the right way.

If an admin can't take being argued with, he shouldn't be an admin. I mod on a couple sites, and when I'm personally involved in an argument in a thread, I stand back and ask others to moderate that particular thread.

The only way I'd punish somebody for arguing with me is if they're arguing about a warning or some action I've taken as a mod. OR if I believe the advice they're giving is potentially dangerous.

Keep in mind that "Rules" have changed over the years.
I only agree because I have seen it in the past 60's NHRA rules that allowed it.

The transmission was stock original 3 speed with electrically actuated Over Drive.
I mounted a push button switch into the floor shift knob and rewired.
You should have seen the looks on peoples faces when they heard me shift six times!
I bought a used 348 engine with the 3-2 setup on it. It was the only Hi-Performance option available.

This was when the GTO (goddamn-tired-ostrich) was just coming out.

In 1964 the LeMans Tempest was available with a GTO option.
The GTO eventually became a separate model of the LeMans.

I became a MOPAR fan in 1967 when I special ordered my 68 Satellite Hardtop. (RoadRunner engine options)
The first Roadrunners were 2-door sedans which I hated.

Then in 1969 I ordered a 1970 440 4 speed Cuda as seen in my avatar.

The Hemi 426 option was $900 above the price of the 440.
The Cuda had all the same driveline components with either the 440 or 426.

Sure wish I had ordered the Hemi instead.
Sold the Cuda about 5 years ago to a guy and he totally restored it.

I wish I has saved some of my cars. A friend of mine still has his car we rode around in during High school. '61 Impala, 348 w/ tri power, 411's and B&M hydro. The car is MINT condition and it has been sitting covered up in his driveway since 1972. I've been trying to buy it for years, but he won't part with it!.....UGH

I'm a Chevy man but if I had my choice of Mopar product it would be a early 70's Super Bee with a 383 Magnum.

velocity3x, There's a older gentleman living not to far from me that has a 69 or 70 El Camino tucked in beside his garage for 20 years that I myself know of and every car buff in the neighborhood has tried to talk him out of it.

It must be something special to him to let it sit there and rot away like that. If he doesn't do something with it soon it will be a total waste.

Anyone here used HelioViewer before? It's an amazing tool that the ESA/NASA have left open to the public so we can see what the Sun's up to haha. I've been using it to go back in time and capture that solar flare from last week and the one a few days after which was about twice as powerful.
