I know for a fact that that on dragstrips in mid to late 1960's these "Line Lock"devices were used even though I did not use one.
I even had a six speed manual transmission on my 1961 Bel Air "Bubbletop" with a 348 cu in (was a truck engine) with three deuces (carbs).
This was the predecessor to the 409 and the start of big blocks for Chevy.
Some people think 6 speed transmissions are new.
So there yee youngsters! Do not think you know everything.
I even made a comment to one of my mechanic friends that you will see Electronic Fuel Injection in the future! He laughed his a$$ off at me!
