Nice knife. I've been looking at the Para 2 but the tip seems too fragile for a hard use folder. What are your impressions?Mr.Sandman wrote:How does k560 stack up against something like 52100? Bohler makes some top notch steel, i just picked up a spyderco paramilitary 2 in m390.

I have friend that accidently threw a knife into his little brothers leg. Kitchen knives are NOT shurikens.

When I was really into balisongs I saved up some money and picked up a Benchmade Model 51. Here are some photos I just took of it:
Somehow in that last picture you can't tell just how dirty the blade really is. I use this thing practically every day to shred open Amazon packages. 8)

Ontario 22" Heavy Duty Machete
This is one of those little gems of the knife world...
It's basically a heat treated 1095 full tang blade for <$25. The handles suck, the factory edge sucks, but it's a sweet chunk of metal for a low price. I plan to reprofile the tip and extend the handle portion out to where the primary grind begins for a two-handed grip which I'll probably cord wrap. It'll get a nice convex edge and I'll probably sharpen 4" of the spine.

Nice knifes guys! I was looking for model 42 but haven't found one yet...
And that Ontario machete... I almost bough one back when i was not making knifes, though its 40€ in Finland
The puukko that i last time posted is now almost complete, now dying the beltloop to dark brown
I was going to forge 2 wood lathe couges tomorrow but our second car broke down and its in the garage right now, and as my shop is just part of our carage i basically cannot do any forging now... Ohwell, need go dust of the old jewellers saw
Actually in my list now is 2 couge blades for my buddy (one quite small and one larger like 1") Then a heavy-duty dagger blade for JSR, then big blade for Lab, THEN puukko for Mr.Sandman..... long list and theres not even all

After some shaping:
I just wanted to add: I thought all you guys were crazy for making your own knives when there are so many good ones already for sale... well after 5 seconds behind the grinder, I'm hooked. What an awesome hobby.

edit: But do you really know why most of the makers do it themself?

No worries, plenty of other projects to keep my little machines whirring in the meantime
Maybe you should prefer walking in the woods, apparently this is the sort of thing you could come across in Finland
