Haha dude the gun is killer!
I would make the scope a little bigger, but that is gonna be sick!

Hell, before late-Vietnam, most scopes were smaller than that, externally adjusted, and 4x power...

Cool!
I like your art Ragnarok.
But in the one sketch where the guy (forgot name) has a grenade, and the girl (forgot name) had some bionic parts...I was thinking they must fight/argue alot, or the guy is sloppy(???)
Got to go for now.

True. I personally like a 3x or 4x, but considering this is set more into the future and the gun has a huge range, I think it would be better suited. Not everybody needs a 60mm cats-eye scope to hit targets.

More into the future, yes. More range, no.thedeathofall wrote:...but considering this is set more into the future and the gun has a huge range, I think it would be better suited.
It's actually a subsonic coilgun, designed for stealth rather than raw power or range. Because of no sonic shockwave from the projectile, nor muzzle blast from firearms powder, it's essentially silent.
It compensates as far as power is concerned for its low muzzle velocity with heavy projectiles, making it reasonably lethal and pretty good for shooting within a few hundred yards (although at longer distances, wind and target movement demand impressive judgement from the user)
The fact that it's a coilgun is also why it has the appearance of two magazines. The front one is a power pack, the rear the one that actually stores the ferromagnetic projectiles.
Yes... but not with each other.THUNDERLORD wrote:I was thinking they must fight/argue a lot...

I like it, especially the plate armour. It gives him a more tactical look, although it may be better suited for an assault soldier, rather than someone who isn't supposed to be seen, heard, or noticed at all. At this point though, I wouldn't change it.
I also really enjoy looking at the fine detail work you put into the gun. You can see some coils and wires, and it looks really great.
I would also suggest some kind of pack, or gear rig. He looks slightly bare. This may be normal, but as an elite soldier, he should at least carry binoculars, a radio, and possible spare ammunition.
Overall, great job. This is my favorite so far. (yeah, even better than the chick in the stripper get up

Thanks, but one slight issue - although I admit that my last update hadn't exactly sorted the face or hair yet... that is to say, Frost is a she.
However, most of your points are perfectly valid. Firstly, as regards the armour, she actually prefers to engage in more direct combat, but is capable of the longer range roles, so finds herself doing them from time to time. When you're a mercenary, you do what you're paid to.
In the background, she does actually have a cloak made of what is known as cameleoline - which is basically active camouflage - but it's not always the best choice for including in a drawing, for obvious reasons:
Person: Nice landscape.
Me: Actually, it's someone using active camouflage.
Person: I... can't see anyone.
Me: That's kind of the point.
Anyway, I call artistic licence on the unlikelihood of the armour. It looks cool, and that's the important thing for art.
I'm actually very pleased with the armour design, as it does everything I asked of it as far as feasibility for combat, but it manages to look pretty stylish at the same time (at least as far as I'm concerned). I enjoy designing this sort of thing, as you can probably tell from my rifle design. Because I have a practically angled mind, I put thought into making it so that what I draw could feasibly work - at least with reasonable advancements in technology.
She is also more equipped in the current version of the drawing than she was in the last update. However, given the pose, not all of the equipment she would normally carry is visible to the viewer.
Update sometime soon, I want to get the basics of the background finished first.

Next update. Didn't quite get as far as I wanted to, but I'd taken long enough since the last posting:

Actually, thedeathofall, there is an piece of trivia about Frost's gender. When she was first written as a brief note in amongst the background of another character of mine, she was envisioned as male. She got a gender swap when I actually defined her more closely, because it worked better with everything else.
So you could say that even I got it wrong in the first place.

Looks good Ragnarok...
Constructive criticism: She could have much more "T&A" added.
But it could also be a good thing she doesn't, much more tasteful version of the traditional female comic images...
Hey, one time (While ago), I was in an area of city, and a female cop stopped me and harassed me, told me never to come back or she'd lock me up for anything (literally)...
I was passing by there shortly after, and saw all these guys running, looked back, saw the cops, started running the same direction only i was trapped by an 8 foot (+) iron fence, curved inward.
I tryed to jump and pull myself up/over and fell...Looked back and saw same female cop come around the corner , looking right at me...mustered all my might, jumped, heaved myself over...looked up...saw her large breasts...
I cracked up laughing and flicked her the middle finger (knowing with that boobie weight there was NO way she could give chase).
said something like, "EFFF YOU Byatch!!!EFFF You!!!"
Oh she was steamed...I slowly strolled around the corner... then once out of view ran (because of her radio).
Jumped on my motorcycle and flew...
8)
Just an example of why large breasts are humorous in comics (IMO),etc. is all.
Anyway, I was thinking she's lacking a helmet (proper head gear)...not for all the time use, just for during heavy combat stuff???
EDIT:Cool armored vid I like the lyrics @ 3:34 the best!!!

She could, but I'll be quite honest, I'm not a fan of big breasts. Like most artists, I draw what appeals to me, and that - for me - means my female characters, at least in my more recent art, tend to follow the trend of modest cup sizes.THUNDERLORD wrote:Constructive criticism: She could have much more "T&A" added.
Also, as your story points out, an action heroine (as most of my women characters are) is going to experience problems if they're sporting large chests. And if there's anything I hate it's something not being feasible (conveniently ignores telekinetic characters)
There is a reason for this - I try to avoid weaselling my way out of drawing faces, so I don't obscure them.Anyway, I was thinking she's lacking a helmet (proper head gear)
In universe, the explanation is that she's foregone a helmet in place of an active micro forcefield (hey, it's sci-fi) because the a fully enclosed helmet doesn't hinder her hearing or peripheral vision.
*Cue someone asking why she doesn't just use a full body forcefield*
Answer: Forcefields are not as reliable as physical armour (in this universe), are expensive, and are dependent on power supplies.
While the increased awareness arising from not wearing a helmet is worth these prices, that logic obviously only applies to head protection.
