Cannons For 2D Cannon Game! -Help

Right now im working on a game that will work on PC and hopefully I will also get it to mobile, so we can have it on our cell phones.

THE PLANS:

The game will be a 2d game, were you look from the side of the character, kinda like mario. I am hopeing that there will be a shop, and you can put together your cannons. There will also be a plain old shooting range mode, and then a arcade mode. I don't really know what you are going to be shooting at yet, but if anyone wants to give me any ideas, Please Tell!

I already have a program to make the game, and I have plenty of game making experience with 2d flash, 3d flash, and First person shooters.


If you want your cannon to be in the game, You must have unique to normal cannons, and send me a good, Transparent background picture so I can use it in the game.

I am currently gathering up all the characters, backgrounds, guns, etc. up for the game. I am planing on having a few different cannons throught the game.

Since the game is 2D I need to make all the cannons on word/paint/etc.

Before I was planning on taking pictures of real cannons, but in the end I found out there not transparent enough.

So I am having porblems with designing all the cannons becuase they take a long time to add all the little features like BBQ sparkers, Small fitting details, and that kind of stuff.

If there is someone willing to take som of there time to make a cannon for the game, I will be very happy, and your spudfiles.com username and avatar will be included in the rolling credits of the game. There is a list of cannons I need below:

- 2 or 3 combustions

- 1 or 2 pnenumatics

- 1 or 2 hybrids

- 1 Strafer


I am looking for 2D Cannons, that look pretty similar to real cannons. They can have paont jobs, or no paint jobs, Try to keep them and each fitting pretty realistic.


Make the cannon somewere around as long as the line below

Cannons can be created on any program, as long as the finished product is 2D.

lol... that sounds like something I wouldn't mind wastin' my time on... with enough customization and upgrade abilities I bet it could turn out being a pretty sweet game... especially if our own cannons were in the game.

wow... i am truly blown away by your idea. i mean its truly forkin original man. im still shaking in amazment that someone would take the time to think this up. you should seriously get on that man, i would play it even if it was a ridiculously produced 2d run 'n' gun. case an point i wish you luck with this game dude...

Sounds like a top idea mate. If you can somehow use algerhythms like GGDT to make your own guns from scratch, like barrel length, type of ammo ect ect ect, it would be bloody unreal.

Would be awesome if ya can some how some up with like a challenge mode where you are given the most basic of cannon materials to use and ya have to tweak it and try and get to a set target velocity to get the next level. If ya win the level, getting some new parts to use like steel so you can crank up the pressure ect would be great.

I can just see SB15's advanced combustion in a game... a barrel 10ft long that extends slightly off-screen :)

...Or the SWAT gun. In the game you have to drive around in a truck towing it on a trailer behind you.

If you are looking for guns that would be more realistic, you should ask Brian the Brain about using some of his. I'm sure he wouldn't mind.
There are several BBMGs out there that look really good too.
You can use my hybrid if you want. It looks reasonably cool, and you don't need to make an animation for changing burst disks:)

Anything really. You should steal some sprites from classic games(doom, zelda, donkeykong, etc.) to add a bit of retro-groovyness.

couldn't agree more... that's an awesome idea... who wouldn't wanna annihilate some zombies from Doom or Resident Evil with a spudgun? :D

the Barret 14mm should be a sniper cannon....... lol

yeah that sounds AWSOME. i want a copy........

and see if you cant find a way to make it a 3D FPS game..........

we should shoot at targets people have made on this forum

like the SWAT gun, and its infamous snowman filled with red goo

Full soda cans for small bore guns

Milk jugs filled with water for mid-bore guns

Stopsigns for dart-rifles

and there should be a level where a golfball cannon is used to play a game of golf, because ive always wanted to do that............

um well so far for the missions, I got some different kinds of robots. In target mode there will be targets, that exploded or something like that.

Im Almost dont gathering all of the Characters. Its hard to find and make all this stuff. When Im completely done with characters/guns/backgrounds/misc sprites I will notify, and thats when the project starts picking up speed.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Can't you just use a mask layer in flash to "cut them out"?
If that isn't what you meant, couldn't you just use the built-in transparency adjustment? If this isn't what you were talking about, please explain your situation. Maybe I can help.

First I was trying to take pictures of real cannons, and take out the background out of the picture. Then after I do that, I would need to make the background transparent.

My problem was that I wasn't able to find a picture of a cannon with a solid color background, like All White background. I tryed taking my Cannon and putting it on a completely white sheet, But When I tryed to take out the background, and make it white in Adobe photoshop, You could still see parts of the bed sheet outlineing the cannon(Although its white sheet it down't come out Pure White on the Computer).

If you can help somehow that would be great. If I confused you anymore, feel free to post more questions.
