Converting a smaller model to CNC was an option, and easily within reach. However, I prefer manual turning, much more personal and you know what goes into each part.

Dunno how it's gonna get moved.. Hopefully we can get a digger or forklift to do it. Gonna get up tomorrow morning with some turps and get rid of all of the packing grease, then bore holes in the cement so it can be bolted to the ground..

Unless you have earthquakes, there is no reason to lag it to the floor. They are not a high vibration item that dances cross the floor in operation.. unless you are doing something really dumb.. :D

Are seismic restraints required there?

AS far as moving it.. you may want to get professional help to prevent injury. Lifting jacks, lifting prybars and steel rollers are common tools for that type of job. The tool should have permanent or removable lift points.

Often it is cheaper to hire a crew than to buy all the proper tools. Don't try this without proper tools and training.

You are one lucky spud gunner.

It's nearly done..it's all set up, except the bloody foot brake is giving pains. The micro switch broke (dad) which was then fixed, only to find out due to manufacturer error the plate does not reach and actuate the switch properly. When held down the lathe functions fine..

Dad's in the shed welding an extension onto the paddle, so fingers crossed I can get it working.. After that it's the swarth guard and another plate to go on, then we're done.

If all goes well and dad is successful it will be finished tomorrow..

Edit: We moved it with engine lifting gear (lol, it will lift multiple tonnes one handed) and a bobcat. Fortunately, all the holes lined up and it bolted together fine..
