Hey!, i just learnt to throw playing cards, not very well, but sometimes they go straight. When you get good they can do some damage! take a look at these videos. When you start it's hard to get right but it's all about the flick of your wrist. When i throw, i pull my arm/wrist back to get the spin needed for it to fly straight. Cool stuff, but you really want to put your wrist through all that abuse though? You could always make a launcher likethis one

Thats a good idea. i think this is a cool concept. I might try something like the machine on mythbusters but instead of using lego motors it uses a dremel to fire playing cards.

I once threw a card into a log...
I'm sure it was pure luck, but it makes for an interesting story.

I once cut a stem of some plant by throwing cards, they hurt quite a bit when you get hit, but the accuracy is just so bad.
btw if you want to get a lot of card to practice ask any friends who still play yugioh or pokemon trade them anything of value in your old collections for a ton of crappy cards, or if you don't have a old collection try asking nicely or pay them some other way. when I traded I had so many cards that I no longer had to care about losing a few when I practiced throwing

If I recall correctly the Mythbusters managed to get them to penetrate a couple of millimetres into a ballistic gel dummy, that would hurt but far from being potentially deadly.

I've used this as work to throw peoples' Fuelman cards about.
I got a magic book in about the 4th grade which explained it for me.

Certainly wouldn't want them anywhere close to hitting my eyes!!
