hey,

I am probably going to make a winch for wakeboarding this summer but I still need some problems to be solved.

first an impression of my idea

i am planning to make something along the lines of this but what kind of engine will I need ? I don't think 50cc wil be enough maybe 70cc?

I will post a sketch up model soon
further I would like to hear your opinions and ideas :D

This looks awesome and I think I have enough gokart engines around to try it.

For the amount of torque you need I would definetly look for an old motorcycle engine, I bet the clutch would take the beating much better than a centrifugal, some from 125cc up. If not a beafy lawnmower engine could do a suitable job maybe even a slip belt clutch, if your on a budget.

Thanks for bringing these to my attention and good luck with yours.

thanks
yes my budget isn't huge but I think I will manage to buy a pretty strong engine and I already found some cheap rope.

and is there a big difference in power between a clutch and a simple chain ?

I would like to start pretty soon since the temperature is raising over here
what would you see as problems I may face ?
-maybe not enough power
-rope not winding on properly
-too weak frame
-overheated engine

just some problems I thought of wich I deffinatly will try to prevent.

someones design
