HAHA I thought EXACTLY THE SAME about the mass-production thing~!! I, too, was like; 'woah this hammer valve just needs a small tank and no weird parts, everyone could make this for a dollar!'
The only thing I still want to know is the strength of both the check valve spring and the 'hammer' spring... I'm going to use an cheap airsoft springer's spring for the hammer spring and a smaller spring (1/2 length and diameter of airsoft spring) for the check valve...would that be okay?
Oh by the way I really wanna know if that thing is like you'll have to cock it each time (pump-action/bolt action/something similar), semi-auto, or fully automatic...fully automatic should be easily archievable if the pressure is high enough...

The face/ size of the valve is 1/2 in. I run the gun at about 80 psi, JSR, the preformance is about as good as my aeg which shoots 340 fps, my aeg can shoot through a can both sides from 30 feet, so can the hammer valve gun. I just made some modiifactions to it, instead of a 1/8 in. elbow, it has a 1/2 in. cpvc tee with an elbow on top, and the back side of the tee has a 3/8 in. to 1/4 in. brass fittin, and the a 1/8 in. nipple for pressing the valve, right now I'm just pressing the valve, but maybe later (I'm "sick" from school today) I will put some rubber bands on. for now heres an updated picture.
As for the semi auto thing, I need a bigger tank, and the valve would have to solenoid operated, which I'm working on, it's pretty much a sprinkler valve solenoid with a 3/8 in. steel rod in place of the steel thingy/ sealing face. there is a pic below. Instead of using a revolver cap gun, etc. I'm going to just use this solenoid method. Will it work? If so the solenoid threads fit perfectly into the 1/2in. cpvc tee, and the steel rod fit through the pipe, so it would be easy to make this thing fire semi auto, I just need a clip idea.

You'll need a pretty strong solenoid, as to the magazine system the blow-forward breech would be a good idea.

Edit: Whoops I now realize it is drawn a bit too small, but it has the blow-forward breach on it...would that thing decrease the (power of the) flow?

That's pretty much it, if you're lucky the air escaping from the valve will push back the hammer with enough force that it will recock the bolt, giving you the option of semi/full auto fire. I was thinking of something along the same lines here.
The design bypasses the need for a separate blow forward bolt, so the energy to move the sleeve comes from the bolt itself.

That design looks good, did you make it yourself, oh wait I forgot your JSR of course you did But anyways, ya it looks like it would work, but where would you suggust a strong solenoid?

You can also get brass check valves that have a bit more substance to them.
You could always reverse the tank and hammer so that the hammer is under the barrel (tank as stock) and moving a pump action forestock cocks it and allows ammo to feed into the barrel.

Yeah but it would be a little harder to put a charging handle on it (I think), unless you're planning to pull the barrel to cock it But there can be a handle mounted on the front of the barrel... The solenoid in this case can be used in lieu of the spring driven hammer, but it's going to have to be pretty heft to knock open the check valve, I don't think one from a sprinkler valve will cut it.

some very clever idears, i like the zip gun type mechanism. cheap and dirty but it works. you could prolly do a cheapy AEG gearbox and rack to the advanced designs, but would there be enough air for a blow forward bolt or would you just run highish pressure, 100 psi realm. stupid question i guess, this is a pressure based system not a volume based one. looks like i need to make this, a pogo and a QEV monster cannon. oww my wallet.
