I have a safety pop-off valve but how would you use that as a trigger? It's just a spring loaded valve that pops open when the tank reaches a pre-set PSI. There's no lever or knob on it. ???? The way I'm making the trigger it will be VERY sensitive. Trip wire booby traps have to be VERY sensitive to be effective. I use VERY light fishing line that's almost invisible. Sometimes I can't see it and I know it's there. lol. I also make sure that the instant the land mine has been set-off the trip wire disconnects from the land mine. With a breakable trip wire that disconnects there's no chance of someone tripping and falling. I really appreciate everybody's feedback. This is a great forum. I can't wait to build all kinds of spudiful goodies.grumpy wrote:for tripmines t use a a safety popoff valve as the trigger, with the mine charged to 100 psi it is sensitive enough that only use sewing thread as tripline. i like this as it is easy to get sewing thread in diferent colors so that it blends in better and is harder to be seen.
Orbits valve mod
if you used a 1/4" ball valve , just screw the popoff into the ball valve and make sure the pin with little ring it is facing the way you are running your line, atach the tripline to the little ring on the popoff and you are all set. test it this way and if you don't like you can still switch to your spring trigger. but i think you will like it, oh the ball valve will beome your on-off safety switch.
The pop-off valve I have doesn't have a ring or pull tab or lever or anything to attach a string to. I'll look at some other pop-off valves and see if I can figure out what you're talking about.

I finished my paintball bouncing betty land mine today and it works great !! I just wanted to tell everybody that I REMOVED THE GUIDE ROD AND IT WORKS GREAT WITHOUT IT. I can put a little pressure in it and the paint grenade will pop up 10 feet just like I wanted or I can put 55 PSI in it and launch the grenade 100 feet in the air. So I can use it as a land mine, mortar, bazooka, or launcher.

Ahh but did you consider the fact that a golf ball will actualy gain lift when fired into a headwind? (true!) that extra loft will easily give it the range I'm talkin' 'bout. better be careful where ya shoot it tho' ' cause accuracy under those conditions is about 'nil. the old finish nail (or drywall screw) in the golf ball trick gives it much greater acuracy, but negates the spin/dimple effect. bringing the range down to about what you are taking about.(if only I had acess to a !.79" rifled barrel.) and yes I DO march off my distances. I live next to a golf course. Theres a stockade fence on the other end of the fairway(300yds. I measured) that I use for target practice. In the off season , it's a great firing range, and a great bonus, is these really bad rich little old ladies hit all kindsa free ammo right into my yard!

Same here, great for getting golfballs and measuring the distance on goolge earth. Except I have about 600yards to play with from where I shoot.markieclarkie wrote:I live next to a golf course.

Rock on dog. One of my favorite sounds, is that of a golf ball hitting a tree. Music!

Why don't you just add your own pull ring? (ma& pa hardware store, key ring ,front counter.) I have also found that the guide rod is unnec. Look some more around this site. Someone found a way to mod the diaphram even more.It had something to do with a little neoprene disc.Good job W/the landmine Idea got any pics?
