Umm....
Well the best performance is from a burst disk which is essentially a clamped bit of material that fails to release the pressurised gas.
For a cannon launching gold balls I'd say metal and the ideal location would be somewhere in my vicinity so I could snaffle them after being launched.

The fastest valve is having no valve at all which is something jsr experimented with, ill see if i can get a link.
But i guess the answer you are looking for is burst disk which has already been mentioned.

Piston valves would be best:

Do some bloody searching, you have NO clue what you are doing.

Damn there have been to much of these kind of topic's lately, MrC you should pm people who have just joined and give send them basic links on piston valves, pressure rated pvc and such so they would have to read them before posting.

I know, it's bloody frustrating.
I really want a forum section where newbies go to ask questions. Then I can just not reply at all
It wouldn't clutter the (good) forum and they'll either get bored of no one replying or go and do some research.

On my forum I have a “HELP!!!” section, and threads so many days old get deleted so as not to bog down the forum with worthless threads.
Something like that here would be nice, maybe try and rig up an auto-reply that posts a link to the wiki.

i've got an idea (lol smilies) anyway, the email that is sent to confirm your address and finalize your account, should have all the important links, then if this really gets out of hand, have a test on basic spudding knowledge contained in said links...well...that's my idea, any takers?

The fastest vavle is a ball valbe. No lie you can have one, and open it, and it'll be like "BOOM!" they rock 8) I had one on a cannon once, and it shot a tennis ball liek 400 yards. they're the best valv es ever no matter what any1 says. they are suppper fast
