Saw would work better. Either way, make sure to smooth the rough edges as to not damage the o-rings.

Now I'm pissed! I cut the notch and only really small amounts of air pass through. My gauge said 60 PSI and then i waited and the arrow would stop at 60 for a few seconds. Then it would drop down to 40 instantly. Another few seconds and instantly jumps from 40 to 20 then 0. I'm really pissed I don't know where any of the leaks are there aren't any hissing noises. This is retarded.

Picture of the piston? You may not have cut the notches large enough.

Fill a bath with water and find out where the leaks are coming from.

I'll cut them larger now, if it still continues not to work I'll upload a picture. I'll also try out that bath trick...

Didn't we explain the whole notch concept before?
Use a file to cut them. It will make it cleaner. You don't want metal shards to cut up your o-rings.

I've got a question, about the barb hose thing..
In my country ( Denmark), they don't sell threaded barb hose things.
Is there anything else that I could use instead?
And instead of grease, when making the piston, could I use baby oil instead? Or Vaseline if you've ever heard of that...
Hope you answer...
Thanks:-)

Gah! I give up! It doesn't work at all! If it wouldn't let air through and fill the chamber I cut the washer a bit more every time it didn't work. I've now cut it so much I cant cut it anymore. This is ridiculous. My web cam on my laptop has bad resolution so I can't upload pictures because you wont be able to see the notches. Anyway thanks for all the help! I don't think my fittings are 3/4". I think they are smaller so that's probably why it wont work. 'Cause all my stuff is too small....

Why don't you re-group and change your direction and start off with a simple combustion. They are just tons of fun, simple to build and you sound like you could use some fun right about now...DerpWithAGun wrote:Gah! I give up! It doesn't work at all! Spudding is not for the easily frustrated. Maybe if we had pictures of your piston, we could help.DerpWithAGun wrote:Gah! I give up! It doesn't work at all! I made some homemade hose barb with a hammer, a 1/2" pipe, a 3/4" to 1/2 fitting.. Hammered the 1/2" into the other fitting..MRR wrote:Instead of a hose barb you could use solder fittings, these threaded brass fittings you solder copper pipes into. Vaseline or baby oil works fine, an alternative is talcum powder.
I made a piston and All that, and it actually worked once.. then one of the o rings on the piston were missing after the first shot... i've used similar o rings, and now i just doesent work..
i really dont know what went wrong...
By the way could you give me a name on the fitting you talked about..
