Hey there gunfreaks!
Last weeks I've been planning to make an airsoft pistol which will be spring powered.
Right under below there's uploaded an image of the idea what I'll be working on.
Please let me know what you'll think about, every comment is helpful for me
If you don't understand how the system works, I'll explain it for ya so it will be clear!
Thanks for reading and time

Hey, thanks for that video!
That's a really cool spring pistol, but my attempt is to make the spring inside the pistol
Let me know what you think about and I'll hear something soon

Bart.
Looks just like the internals of a nerf gun. The only thing I'd really add is maybe a detent.
What type of caulking mechanisms you intend on using?
@Bravootome.
How bad is the bidirectional recoil on that thing?
Looks like it jumps around quite a bit. It certainly sounds like it has some Spank to it though.

Hey Boomer,
I'm going to add a ball detent once the gun is fully finished and the system works.
The main material of the gun is just metal. The sealing from the piston is from rubber.
Hope you know enough at least,
Thanks

Yeah I figured you would just use a piece of metal pipe for convenience, strength and simplicity. I've modified several of my kids nerf guns with heavier Springs and their main limitation is there construction. I was able to approximately double the range on one of my kids small blasters, but it only lasted about a hundred shots before the sear failed.BartSkillZ wrote:Hey Boomer,

I was mostly just curious if you were going to use a pull rod through the center of the spring like some nerf guns do. I am curious because I've thought about building something similar and I wanted a caulking mechanism that would not add significant mass to the piston. I would like to build something with the caulking mechanism completely separate from the piston.

I understand what you mean to avoid the damage of the piston what you get every time you'll shoot. I guess there will be a way to make a piston, which is way stronger than rubber. I'm thinking about nylon piston base with rubber rings attached on it. When you'll shoot with that piston, there won't be any runout.
Tell me what you're thinking about this idea
(and others may also comment to this tread) haha ^^

You aren't going to get much power out of it.
Something like this is much easier to put together and significantly more powerful:
