for one the golf ball went right through the ply wood, and left a dent in the post behind it, two it is not rotten, three, i could not find anything else to make a piston out of, if you want to tell me what to use as a piston go ahead, i am open for suggestions. sorry for double posting again, my computer wont let me eddit :x

Alright, the gun isn't perfect, but who here has made a perfect spudgun? All of the criticisms of his gun have already been presented to him, and now everyone is debating what is right and what is wrong. It was really unnecessary for you to make a post telling him that his gun is "lacking in quality" and that "so many things could have been done better". I know that you aren't trying to be a jerk, but I think the whole forum could benefit if people tried to be a bit more courteous toward each other. It is much more helpful to people if you suggest improvements rather than state the negative things about a creation and say the gun is worthless.

End rant mode.

the plywood is not rotten, but its rotting and lost most of it's strengths, at least the damage pic from the original post had old plywood, but in the video the sunlight makes it hard to determine
I have no Idea how that duct tape seals, piston can be made from end caps and O-rings or wood and O-rings

well to make a 3 inch piston out of end caps, they need to be 2.5 inch, and i cant get those in my area. and i have already tried to make one out of wood, with little success because i don't have a lath. and the Duck tape piston has died  it kind blew it self to pieces.

Seat diameter is what the piston seals against. In a standard piston valve it is smaller than the piston. Since your piston seals off the chamber at the same diameter as the piston, your piston will tend to not open fully and bounce back closed especially with your small pilot exhaust valve. If you made the gun the same size, but added a 2" diameter seat, it would bump you up to a nice 622 fps.

This thread may help you understand what the seat is.
