help with new aa sniper prototype air rifle
am at this moment working on my AA rifle. As I figure it I’ve spent only 30.00 on it. So far but I intend to spend 100.00 I found a way to mount a laser sight not a laser pointer. I'm thinking of putting on a Swiss or Czech bayonet and a led torch on. Right now it's a work in progress. It’s White and I was wondering what to paint it? Camo or silver or black I don’t know? What do you think I might try to put on a gun stock? But I took off the ball valve. And I’m going to add a modded sprinkler valve and the tape is just to see how it looks. I've also made spears for it weighted with 50 cal. lead sot to balance it. and the shot its self can be ammo oh guys how long does S&H really take from www.bcarms.com if you choose fedex ?
Ps I also have acess to a plastic welder what do you think. thanks
pps. Ii've made a slincer for the gun do silncers cut down on the noise on air rifles to?

1. Use a qev, they are better than sprinkler valves (I just got a qev and it easily beats my old sprinkler)
2. Silencers will cut down on the noise, but you have to build it right. There are more than enough online resources to figure it out.
3. Plastic welds can be used to make a stock or accessories but DON'T trust them with pressure. (unless you want 7 fingers )

i have found that the silencer needs just a tad more volume than your chamber.
a bayonet? put on a Enfield No.5 bayonet they are chunky there not that expensive for what they are i collect bayonets so yeh. Or put a no.4 spike bayonet on it. It would be cool.As for paint i suggest a jungle greenish type thing but whatever suits you is best. :toothy10:
Thats the No.5 Bayonet pretty cool. But you do whatever you want im just obsessed with this bayonet.
edit-Nice gun mate it looks real nice.I like it! :toothy10: (that was the smiley of aproval)

Actually 'DISMY' pipe which can hold up to 1400psi needs to be plastic welded not bonded by cement or glue. So yes you can trust it with pressure as long as you use the right pipe and know what your doing. Its essentially the same thing either way, your bonding the pipe, but with the welding your melting the pipe more and deforming it, meaning its structual integrity is not as strong. Thats why DISMY pipe is about 3/8" thick.

On a "sniper rifle"? Snipers are supposed to put as much distance between them and the enemy as possible, why would they want something only useful at point blank range that is liable to distort their barrel?cb4289 wrote:I'm thinking of putting on a Swiss or Czech bayonet and a led torch on.
I know, I know, got me pedant hat on

well what if the sniper got into a picle ie a soldier creeps up on him and he turns around just in time and there is hand to hand?
And snipers do sometimes go in close think about it.
Randy Shugart and Gary Gordn two delta snipers in Operation Gothic Serpent(battle of mogadishu(black hawk down)) they went in to secure a crash site and got into heeps of close combat yes one of them used a car-15 and the other an m-14 but that doesnt count. a sniper is a sniper.
And yes the sniper would probably whip out their pistol or combat knife so really it doesnt matter but it would look cool.

commie!
hehe looks like the ruskis agree with you, but you won't see a western sniper with a bayonet fitted.
I mean, it looks great, but how useful is this really?

you've got me there jack but it would be useful. And hey the russians are pretty good like i go for them in the rambo films (which suck i might add)
edit- but youve go to admit its cool. And remember snipers dont have to neccesarily use sniper rifles. Some snipers use/used M-16's, Lee enfields, M-1 garands and ak-47's.Snipers are people not firearms.
edit- i forgot to put in the smileys........ :toothy10: :toothy10: :toothy10:

True, but a sniper by definition is someone who shoots his targets out to a considerable distance with very few shots, neither the M16 nor the AK are suitable for this task, therefore a true sniper would be using a sniper rifle if he wants to do his job properly.Imperialist1 wrote:Snipers are people not firearms.

oh you got me again you are good what iwas trying to get at was that snipers basically are marksmen (really good ones). Also justas an interesting fact M-16's were used as snipers in vietnam.

There are certain theatres of operations where range is limited and a true sniper doesn't have space to function, such as dense jungle or urban surroundings, in this case the definition gets a bit blurred. The Russians even use the tiny 22LR round in their SV-99 rifle, made specifically to be discreet for close range (sub 100 metres) shooting and still called a "sniper rifle" by some, even though most snipers wouldn't consider anything less than a 0.308.

what about the Lee enfield .303 one of the most famous rifles of all time?jackssmirkingrevenge wrote: even though most snipers wouldn't consider anything less than a 0.308.

I meant 0.308 cartridge (NATO 7.62x51mm), not calibre - besides, are we going to a fight over 0.005 inches the 0.303 is very similar in power and performance to the 0.308 anywayImperialist1 wrote:what about the Lee enfield .303 one of the most famous rifles of all time?
yep, just friendly banter hehe
hectmarr wrote:You have to make many weapons, because this field is long and short life
oh ok i thought you meant calibre. .anyway the dictionary defines a sniper as a marksman who shoots his targets from a concealed position. And watching shootout today on the history channel there was a sniper who picked off an iraqi insurgent mortar team leader from like 30 metres away on a balcony (using an m21)
The word sniper comes from in england when people went hunting that one of the hardest game to shoot was the snipe( a bird) and people who were able to hit these birds were given the decoration of the name "sniper".
kinda weird innit?
edit-anyway jack shouldnt we continue this banter in pm's because were kinda stuffing up the thread pm me your next response.
cheers.
