I went to the home depot yesterday and returned my Jar Top Toro. So I bought a Lawn Genie valve. I brought it home, opened it up, and there was a guide rod, staring me in the face. I was kinda pissed. So I am too lazy to go return it, so is there any way I can get past the guide rod, like removing it or something. And also, what is the ideal size tube for when you mod the valve? I bought 1/2 inch. Is that too big?

unscrew the top, yank out guide rod, drill mod hole, put rod back in diaphragm holeand screw top back on. make sure u didnt forget to put spring back in. thats what i did and my vavle works fine.

it doesnt matter wat size tube u use...but u have to have the right size barb fittings... and remember to use hose clamps....u can use smaller hose...i used 1/4 for mine..

do not do this! the guide rod keeps the diaphram elighned. i tryed this and the valve wouldint set. dill a hole to the side of the guide rod the blowgun will be at a slant thought.

Yeah, I have 1/2 tubing, and half inch barbs. I was just wondering if they were going to be too big. And Pyro, I think I am just going to take the valve back and get the Rain Bird.

why didnt u get a rain bird in the first place? almsot all of the generic sprinklers have guide rods...get a orbit or rain bird..

Okie. It was a generic mistake. Okie, so my tubing is fine and shit, I just need to get a new valve...

Ok, I went again to my local Home Depot. I got a Rain Bird Valve, the only 1 inch Rain bird that they had. So, it has the bleed screw in the center. Is it ok if I take that screw out, and just drill right where it was? Or should I just return it, get cash, and go somewhere else for a valve?

sure, thats what I did and it works wondurfully<- that not spelled right
You might not even need to drill the hole any larger, it may fit with just tapping the blowgun into it, however if it is to tight dont force it, take the time to drill it to the proper size.

What about the not so conveniently placed spring, how did you deal with that?

Whats the problem with offsetting the pilot hole to the side? Doest make a difference, just take into account how you are goign to mount the trigger system.

Oh man, do I have a story for all you guys. Ok, so I just realized that they gave me a 3/4 inch valve in the box. I am returning the shit, getting cash, and going somewhere else. I will find an orbit 1 inch. That pissed me off that there was a 3/4 in the box for a 1 inch. I am so going to put that valve right up Home Depot's ass.

home depot sucks I went out into the contry with my dad who was picking up some tractor parts, and whe went to lowes, great beutiful place DWV on the left SCH40 on the right of all sizes the dwv even had a few 6" fittings, great place even have SCH80
