There is quite a difference between 12 gauge (.72") and 20mm (.79"). But I don't know exactly how big the wad is... so ignore me on that count
Actually, 20mm is close to what 9-gauge would be if it were used (I don't think it is).

The best wadding I've seen is cut up plastic bags. Non-porous, free (for you at least) and exceptionally lightweight. Scrunched up, it is nearly perfect for fairly small bores. (It might be usable up to 2" if you wanted).
Loo roll is usable too, but not quite as good, as it's heavier and porous.

Both are also good for firing at smaller siblings from a small distance away (not at close range though. I've seen bits of loo roll go 2 or 3 inches into bag of compost at point blank). Wait, we're not allowed to say that - crap.

Of course, using either in a combustion rather than a pneumatic is rather less convient as they both burn very freely.

glad everyone likes it. will set up a series of mics to record muzzle velocity for you viewing pleasure soon. we will even calculate it in fps for all ur imperialist spudders. lol will also post a vid at full pressure too. this thing is fast. dad didnt think it would work... till we shot it. now he doesnt want anything to do with it cause he thinks the cops will come round. such a party pooper.

@ 100psi... all we see is a big ruffle of grass behind the target. and yes chaos, we will shoot the solenoid (with a lead sinker) once we have some eproxy just for u. all u will see is probably a sudden spray of plastic and metal shrapnel though LoL.

Hey man I live in Tassie, where did u get the tire valve from, i've checked ebay and all the shops and can't find one, could you salvage one from a bike tire tube, and how much would i expect to pay for the blowgun?

dude we picked up the neato scharader from the local bridgestone tire store. just check any of the tirefitting shops around u and they will sure to have em. u wouldnt have much luck getting em from an old bike tube since they are used for truck tires and such. ask for chrome schrader valves, and be sure to buy the one that is bolted from the outside (incase it gets loose). cost us $4.50AUD.

as for the blowgun... it was on sale from supercheap auto for round $5AUD. quick go now before the sale ends!

It's Acorn season here in australia! I've found they fit awesome into my 20mm barrell (thats all i've got of my pneumatic at the moment) Collect them and shoot them . Thanks for your help man, theres a Bridgestone centre like 200 metres from my house!! Cheers.

Hey guys, just went out and bought a sprinkler valve, theres a little pin that comes out of the lid and goes down into the valve ( when the lid is on). Is this going to be a problem? could i just drill a hole next to it? Any help appreciated.

My cheap digital calipter (from Harbor Freight) is being a pain, but I measured an unused 12 gauge wad and it was about .711 inches. They run about $6US for a bag of 250, by the way. And the back of the wad could be cut off from the front, so you could really have two.
By the way, don't buy electronic stuff from Harbor Freight. It is really bad quality.

i think ur talking about the guide rod. some say that are a pain in the ass but it is really not that much harder than other valves to mod. just offset the barb away from the rod, giving room for the barb to be inserted without touching any of the phram or rod. if like us, u will have to insert the barb on an angle, but some of the caps plastic gets in the way. best way around this is to drill the biggest pilot hole u can, and gradually increasing the bit size to ur barb, use a wrench or something to turn the bit by hand. this way u wont munt the cap by accidentally cracking it or taking out the rod.

when u drill the hole, think out where it should by with reference with ur configuration and trigger set up. and remember to use plenty of teflon!

EDIT: i dont seem to notice any lack in power from the breech. its pretty tight, cept there is a little air escaping from it, u hardly notice but then again, how would i know, batteries just fly so fast

Hey again dudes, Could you have the sprinkler valve right after the chamber instead of on top before the barrel? would that decrease performance at all?

it would only decrease the volume of the chamber. it would only decrease performance if the volume of the pipe leading from the valve to the barrel is large, other than that it should be fine.
