Was it a slow leak? Or something more serious?

yeah there will be a tremendos difference between 3/4 inch and 2 inch and mateo's conclusion that air slipped past the potato at 3/4 inch blows your story completely out of the water because you said and i quote
if air leaked with a 3/4 inch valve then it would definitely leak with a 2 inch valve(i.e. not a perfect shot as described) which means you either didn't tell the truth about something or you got some super rubber hybrid potato that has the power to hold 100psi and not be damaged or leak at all until your valve is fully open.theepicmool wrote: I even tried it again but turned the valve really slowly, and still, a perfect shot! No extra parts, no extra costs.

spudtyrant: Should have mentioned, I put some Vaseline on the ball valve, I thought it was a given. I also think a larger valve would be less prone to leaks then the smaller, because the potato portion can be longer as well, causing a sort of natural gasket. The potato I used reached all the way from the back of the valve to the front.
P.S.
It was a P.E.I Potato.

Update: Made a gun of the same dimensions, but a piston valve. Ball Valve fires about 5-10 meters more every time at same psi.
You're still listing facts with no evidence whatsoever. There's not even any proof I can see that you've actually even made the cannons! Not even a solitary picture of either of the claimed pair.
Also, for the lulz, let's say I'm taking you seriously. 5-10 metres more over what? 3 centimeters? 8 kilometers?
But I suspect that if 5-10 metres is a notable and consistently measurable increase, then neither cannon has anything that I would even start to call power.
Next, how do I know it's not a duff piston valve?
Actually, I can't take you seriously. And here's why. Not a couple of pages ago in this thread, you were arguing against piston valves for being too complex and costly. That's why you wanted this idea.
Why the fiery satanic bollocks should now I believe you suddenly built one?
... actually I'm sorry, I have to go now, my BS-o-meter has just overloaded and it's set fire to my desk.

Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

ah-ah-ah-choooooooooo....
oh sorry i didn't mention it before, i'm highly allergic to b.s.
It seems everytime we make a claim based on experiences and knowledge we know to be true you try and act like we're idiots who don't know what we're talking about, whilst at the same time trying to disprove what we say without any evidence what-so-ever to prove that you actually did anything at all.
How do you expect anyone is going to believe the claims you made if you don't present any evidence to support them?
If you actually presented viable evidence we would be more inclined to believe you, stranger things have happened. But at this point the vast majority of us don't have any reason to take any of the things you have said seriously

I was at an event with a side by side competition. Super slingshot, ball valves, and piston valves. The two piston valves took the first 2 places for distance.spudtyrrant wrote:ah-ah-ah-choooooooooo....

Most of us have seen enough evidence to detect BS a long way off.
The winners are posted on this page;

The longest shot was a 3 inch piston. The most creative a ball valve pistol. Overall winner a 2 inch piston. Ball valves were way back in distance. Even the large ones.
Only the piston valves reached the retired numbers above the 300 section. Our team lost the distance only to a larger piston valve. We won best overall.
At 1:52 in the video below you can see the big ball valve fall short of the box seats between the 300 and 200 levels. The shirt landed in the 200 level from the ball valve. We tagged the retired numbers and the back wall behind the 300 section at less pressure.

I see that this thread is still going, finally theepicmool you have made piston valve and im sure we would all love to see it.
But seriously i tried this once with my ball valve and it appeared to work, but i do not have that ball valve nemore so im stuck back using the leaky one so i cant test this anyfurther.
