Just wondering but what is the farthest you've shot a potato? I've built plenty of guns in my day but am new to the forums and I couldn't find anything about this on here. I built a cannon that shot a potato over 300 yards. Is that far or just average or what?

The cannon has 6 1/2' long chamber 6" diameter and 10' barrel 2" diameter.

Wow! thats I pretty big cannon. 300 yards is a little above average.A little More probably, anyone correct me. I have got at least 300 yards tops with my combustion cannon, and its smaller than yours. And the C:B ratio isn't good at all.

300 yards is a very long distance, what form of measurement did you use?

I have a golfball gun with 1.5" porting barrel sealing valve, 6.5ft 2" chamber, 7.4ft barrel the golfballs go out of sight almost instantly when i shoot em up in the air. hang time is around 23 seconds.

I bought one of those wheel things you walk behind and it counts the feet. Two people shoot it and two people stand out in the field to find it after it lands. Once it lands we do some trig measurements...basically make a right triangle and use pythagorian theorum...I know we're nerds haha it's harder to walk out the entire distance cause you curve and get bad measurements. It's easier to use the rows of corn in the field to keep a straight line straight back to the gun.

Potato, Hmm not sure mine usually dissipate into thin air, but i've shot a golf ball 400yards with only an 80cm barrel :P

Is that a ball valve? You should build a piston valve or even a 2" sprinkler valve would be better then a ball valve.

Why would you ever want to be anywhere near the Grand Canyon? That place has to be the most boring place my parents have ever dragged my borther and I out into. The best thing about the trip was me chucking a little pebble sized rock and a squirrel to chase it away, but the squirrel though it was food, so it turned to look and the rock beaned it in the head.

LOL, That is boring. But people do throw up to 20 dollar bills off the side onto the rocks over the small rope gates. I got a long stick, and got a $20 :D
