Here's a close-up of the &amp;quot;bread n' butter&amp;quot; of Heavy Barrel. At the top you can see the 12oz Co2 bottle with 115psi constant regulator. 1/8&amp;quot; thick aluminum steps were JB welded to the 3&amp;quot; Wye and then reinforced with two large hose clamps. The whole idea was mounting all the accessories without drilling into the PVC. It's very solid.<br /><br />That's a 9.6v 1000mA batter pack that powers the solenoid and firing controls. Had to fabricate the bracket to hold it on, luckily aluminum bends pretty easily when coaxed with a hammer!

The other side of the cannon. The Co2 tank has it's own on/off valve but I also wanted a ball valve for piece of mind. The black control box was a real pain in the ass to make. I bent some sheet aluminum into the box but then needed a way to mount it. In the end I used a little bondo to basically &amp;quot;sculpt&amp;quot; a base plate and then JB Welded it all to the Wye. It worked out really well. Super clean.

Close up of the control box. Missile switch in the armed position and the ready light is on. The other LED is the &amp;quot;fire&amp;quot; light that comes on when the trigger is pushed. That all leads down to the push button trigger on the handle. The other two wires run back to the solenoid.

This is the heart of Heavy Barrel. 9.6V 1000mA is enough power to run the electronics and still fire the solenoid, plus it came with a recharger so I can just charge it back up when it runs low. The pink things are just wire connectors, I have them in several locations so it can all be disassembled without hassle.

Last but not least here's a good look at the sleeved barrel. Heavy Barrel isn't just a name, it's also a description! The barrel is 5' sleeved so it's a tad on the heavy side. The dot on the seam is a metal pin I drove into it to shim the sleeve apart, my sleeve cut wasn't the best so I had a spot where the balls would stop. The shim worked great but I didn't use hardened steel (it's a wire shirt hanger) so I could only hammer it down about 8&amp;quot;. I was really hoping to shim all 5' (it fills the gap as well as widens the ID). <br />  <br />I didn't snap any pictures of the piston but it's construction is pretty basic. In fact, it's just a short Pringles can! I Bondo'ed the inner walls to make it super strong and wrapped the outside in cloth tape (hockey stick tape?) Glued some neoprene rubber to the metal part of the can and it fires great.<br /><br />Well that's it for now. The gun was tested and leak checked at 50psi using the Schrader valve, it works great so far but I'll definitely keep updating as I add the finishing details.<br />I finally got my Co2 fill today and put the gun together. Here's the new pics:

Back end of the gun. Yeah my newly blue sprinkler valve, you got a problem with blue?! The decals make it look real pretty. The strap ends at the hose clamp, that's the air hose that goes all the way to the back of the cannon.

Last picture I promise! This is just a better view of the back end. You can see I ran my wires through some adhesive backed wire clips just to keep them out of the way.<br />    <br />That's it. I dry fired it at 100psi and I almost wet myself (can you tell this is my first piston cannon?) It's very loud but I can't wait to blast some golf balls with it, I'll probably never find them! I'll keep you posted though.

WOW! very nice! I love the design for the name. The sleeving is very nice and the coat hanger part is very genious! Have you shot it yet? If so you should post pics and vids.

Wow nice how long did it take you to build it and how much money? very imppressed. Have you recoreded a max distance.

beautiful work! im currently working on a similar (sort of) cannon, mine uses a 4" piston and the barrel is flush with the end of the chamber...i'm having problems with the valve, though, what do you use to lubricate the valve?

so the pvc is ok with the co2 ehh?no prmature deaths?

I've been trying to figure out a way to rig up co2 with pvc. and i think iv got it too. and it looks like it can be done
