hey, i had this mortar prototype working, but i just finished the stand today. It's got a 6"x6" (drum bell?) for a mount. Its held up by a bipod with a 3/8" thread to raise/lower height. You do this by twisting the 1/2" 4-cross either way. It works very simply. Its like a burst disk except i stop pumping and drop the round down the muzzle. The nail hits the foil in the union and it bursts. dangit. I put the pics in backwards

I like your rounds. How well does it shoot? I really like your other gun. Specs for both maybe.

looks nice what kind of height do you think this is getting. i also love the nail in the bottom of you ammo that pops the disc.

This definitely works, even if the mortar round doesn't seal good...

I have done this before with PVC rockets in which I hot glued a nail to the sidewall... It's pretty damn fun when you have multiple mortars, air compressors, and "helpers" (burst disk replacing friends )

The only bad thing is when the PVC rocket hits your loading mechanism because you didn't move it out of the way fast enough and blows it to smithereens...

You didn't think you were going to drop these in with your hand did you?

It's not as bad if they're launched at an angle and slide down slow... But PVC projectiles could definitely rip your appendages off...


I like your other pneumatic also... It reminds me of my PB Pneumatic... I made a stock out of a 45 and (2) 90s though...



Very terrible primer job compared to most of my work if I do say so myself I think it was because I was mad, due to my local Home Depot not selling 1" NSF-PW Wye fittings... and I didn't want to use a 1" tee + a 1" 45

dont really know for sure. ive been meaning to actually get it out to an open area. I did some preliminary testing it in my backyard. 35 psi was enough to hit my neighbor's roof. Too lazy for specs, sorry amigo. If you want a specific measurement i'd be glad to tell ya.

Very nice mortar, I'll bet it's pretty loud I also like the other pneumatic, but one of the fittings on it is dwv (not pressure rated), so I would suggest replacing it, or keeping the gun below 50 psi. The dwv fitting is the rounded off 90 degree elbow.

:cussing: I didnt recognize the dwv! that pisses me off. I could usually only take it to 40, but i just epoxied a leak in the sprinkler so i was gonna us it at 100... thanks tho, that just about saved my life. Well, i am gonna hand load them. Its not an issue because, like a real mortar, the round's diameter is a little smaller than the tubes, so because of berlin forces, it takes a little bit to hit the bottom of the tube (still enough to puncture tho.)

I dont really know what you want in terms of specs for the rifle. Its all 1.5" except the sprinkler. Its piloted with a 1/4" ball valve (much better flow and realisticness imo) on a 90. The pipe coming off of that is just 1/2" pvc i jammed it there to hold it better.

what kind of range can you get with it and at what pressure?

this cannon has inspired me to make my own. i finished it last night and tested it today. it passes with flying colors. i was lucky and found a near perfect round that already has a puncture pin on it. i shot it at around 100 psi. i dropped it in, heard a loud bang and never saw the projectile again. sadly, i didnt recover the projectile. with no more "mortar" rounds on hand, i just used it as a burst disk cannon.

what exactly do you make your rounds out of? is it 3/4'' pvc fittings with tape on it?
