Looks fun... You could safely take it higher than 50 psi... I dont know how much higher exactly, but ive heared of bottles make it to 200psi without exploding or cracking. But im sure 80-100psi should be safe.
xxtriviumxx... That bottle is a gatorade bottle. Since gatorade isnt carbonated, the bottles are probably not able to hold the kind of pressures as say a coke bottle.... I have one made from a coke bottle and I regularly take it to 120 psi with no problems
Still, this looks like a fun little plinker.
and as jrrdw asked, how is that bottle attached.

I like to play blackjack. I'm not addicted to gambling, I'm addicted to sitting in a semi-circle.
It looks like the bottle was slipped over a coupler ans epoxied? Yea does look fun. what is the barrel made of poly?

dude trash the gatorade bottle. there are not tough at all. I've seen tons fail. They dont even compare to normal soda bottles. they have a huge seam in them and they will probably burst the second you go over 50psi, if not sooner. Just trying to tell you from experience.
edit: its really only a few dollars and a few minutes to replace it. why not when your safety is at risk. just my two cents

ok sorry for the wait but i had to go see the new Indiana Jones movie
yes the bottle its epoxied to an old 1" SCH80 nipple i had laying around.
I'm not sure about the pressure it can take but i probably will exchange it soon.
i believe the barrel is sch80 1/2" but not completely sure

Yeah, I had a similar cannon that had a Fanta bottle as the chamber... If you are willing to search it up on SpudFiles, be my guest. The name is "Fanta Cannon". It's very similar to yours and, like i said, uses a carbonated bottle.

Dude! Its a bottle, not a bottel.jrrdw wrote:Soda bottels that are made for pressure. I've read of 100psi, but have no experience with them.
As a mod you should give the right example to people eh?
Nice gun brplatz, after upgrading that ghetto chamber it will be an even nicer little plinker.
Maybe just use a pressure rated pvc chamber? More power, and is a whole lot safer.
i recommend 1 litre or 1.5. they are safer than 2Lbrplatz wrote:ill have to check it out. i think i might use an old 2 liter bottle for the chamber since i don't buy many small bottles of coke anymore.
edit: also is that a 3/4" barrel? what do you shoot? marbles?

From my experiences, 1/2 is used for marbles. 3/4 is a tad bit too big.

i am planning a very large cannon setup thingy i will probably be done with in about 3 weeks. that is why I'm not spending money on this one.
when i pump it to about 65-70 psi it starts to bulge out right around the middle. possible its the seam homedepotpro was talking about. i will try a soda bottle once i acquire one.
as for the barrel it is 1/2 but the walls are much thicker than normal SCH40 pipe. i usually shoot wire nuts.
