how to make a high pressure manual pump request

I've searched the How To section front to back and there is no thread on how to make a high pressure manual air pump for pneumatic cannons. I saw several models people have made but I still have no clue how to make one myself. I looked in stores for pumps and they only go up to like 70 psi and I want something higher for bigger cannons. maybe someone that has already built one can make a how to on it. it would be really helpful to me and anyone else wanting more portability with their pneumatic.

A high pressure pump is about as complicated as a syringe with an o-ring. You need to maybe not think it is so complex.

I went back and had a look at the "how to", I don't know what the heck is going on.
All of the pictures have been changed around. They are now in the reverse order.
Just look at the pictures and instructions (In each half) last to first.
It should make more sense if you do.
I guess I'll have to find the pictures, and re-do the damn thing.

I have notice this. The order you upload is the order after saving. The order is reversed in the preview. I don't know why, but it is. I have gotten used to the reverse order preview being OK. Don't fix it becuase the preview is backwards.

The how to was correct at the time I posted it. I verified that it WAS in the proper order when viewed AT that time.
For some reason, it has changed, and I cannot explain it.
I'll re-do it. It's useless the way it is now.

lol thats probably why it confused me.
Edit: I looked over the plans alot with a confused look on my face then it finally hit me of how it works. lol. so I'll be building one when I can get the money to buy the stuff for it. I planned on having it mounted directly to an empty propane tank so I can have a completely portable air compressor.

What size propane tank? What pressure do you plan on using?
Hand pumping my t shirt launcher to do my barrel tweaks was serious work for a 700 cu in tank. It's the reason the projectile in barrel clocking tests went to 60 PSI on most tests and up to 80 on very few. My future planned 7 gallon propane 3 inch coax would simply be a workout to hand pump to 60+ psi for each shot. I'm planning on running it at 100-180 PSI, way beyond my physical condition. It may be OK for an athlete, but not me.
If you are hand pumping the little 1 lb bottles, they are not too bad. My little one is 54 cubic inches in it's coaxial configuration.

I'm not sure on the size of the tank. It's the kind for a gas grill. and I wouldnt have to pump it up for every shot. I'd say I could get 4 or 5 shots out of it, with a small cannon. plus to I wanted it for a bbmg. and I had no idea about pressure for that thing.

BBQ tanks are OK up to about 200 PSI if the tank is not modified.
Attached is a pressure graph for propane that shows the pressure in the temperatures they are designed for.
If you modify the tank, for example building in a larger valve or internal pump, the strength is no longer guaranteed. I'm using one for the 3 inch valve QDV I'm working on.
If you don't modify the tank, the valve can be unscrewed, but it's a real bear to get out. The hole is threaded for 3/4 inch pipe in the US for the refillable 20 lb tanks.

well I want somthing I can take with me every where. I wanna take it out to a field and shoot stuff and there isnt exactly electricity out there.

I also presume you don't want to spend all afternoon pumping it up.
Knowing the horsepower requirements of your air demand and your ability to deliver the flow at pressure may have a large gap needing a rethink of the size of the cannon or the source of the power to provide the supply.
For large cannons (over 1 gallon at over 60 PSI) you will want to think about using an alternative supply whether is is simply a CO2, HPA, gas or electric compressor, propane, etc. The hand pumping is one of the major reasons I built the marshmallow cannon. It works fine with a hand pump up to 100 PSI. The 700 cu in t shirt launcher wears out a team of men who often decide to fire at 40-60 PSI because they wear out before reaching 80.
